New 2012 997 Turbo S Cabrio Owner
Hi,
My name is Robert and I am a first time Porsche owner. I purchased a nicely optioned Triple Black Porsche 2012 997 Turbo S Cabriolet. I have posted a few questions recently, but I haven't introduced myself to the forum. I picked up the Turbo S with about 500 miles in spotless condition, looking like it just came off the showroom. It is the first time that I have purchased a car like this "second hand", but I saved quite a bit off the going price of these cars. It is completely gorgeous. I had my local clear bra specialist do his magic immediately upon delivery and it looks amazing. Keeping a black car perfect is a difficult job, especially here in Michigan with all of the summer bugs. I will post some pics once I take some.
I kept thinking that I would wait for the new 991 Turbo version, but in the end, we never get our time back and why not enjoy this beast now. It is a hell of a beast too:-)
I am coming, most recently, from the Dodge Viper world, having owned three (2002 Final Edition, 2010 Final Edition, and 2010 Vert...I still own the Vert!), Corvettes, Shelbys, and several 60s muscle cars, and this Porsche completely blows my mind. It is so fast, yet so refined compared to what I have had in the past and such a completely different driving experience. It is my first car with Dual Clutch Auto and paddles, having always had manuals. Very interesting experience and fast as heck gear changing...
When deciding on this Turbo S, it was between the Audi R8 V10 Spyder and P-Car. I drove them both extensively and even put a deposit and order for the R8, but backed out of it after , yet another, Turbo S test drive. Ultimately, I couldn't get the sheer ferociousness of the acceleration from the Turbo S out of my mind. It is like a jet airplane taking off and even kind of sounds like one!
The one thing I really like about the 911 is that it seems to fly under the radar and really doesn't attract too much attention. I think that the general public has been looking at these 911s for so many years and they really can't tell the difference between one model or another...I don't have all of the kids hanging out their windows with their cameras taking pictures, endangering other drivers (or myself, for that matter) like they do when I drive my Viper. I like being a bit incognito in a super car!
I have since driven the car a couple hundred miles on days off and weekends and I am loving every minute of it. I like the fact that I am driving a car with such history and heritage and it actually still has a back seat that my two kids can sit in! Awesome, simply awesome!
Pictures to follow.

WOW - My third congratulations in a week to new Turbo owners. Drive it in good health. It must be contagious. Since I'm on about my 25th since my first in 1979, I can confirm there is no vaccine. My wife even caught it from me.
Congrats. Made the right decision, the Turbo is the perfect balance between supercar performance and every day driver.
