RUF 620HP upgrade
RUF 620HP upgrade
I saw this on the RUF AUTO US site. Has anyone ordered this, already have it on their car, or know someone with it?
"RUF Automobile GmbH proudly announces a new upgrade for both the Porsche 997 Turbo and the 997 Turbo S with DFI.
The standard 500 hp of the Turbo and the 530 hp of the Turbo S have been increased through modified ECU; sport air filters; sport catalytic converters; a new exhaust system with double end pipes to a total of 620 hp. The Torque increases to an astonishing 820 Nm @ 3,000 to 3,500 rpm. This enables a sprint of 0 – 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, 0 – 200 km/h in 9.1 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph (326 km/h). The upgrade is available for both the manual and the PDK transmissions."

-You can't just buy the package and have your shop install it. You have to send your car to Michigan for the 'authorized Ruf dealer' to do the upgrade.
-They don't actually give you a 'new' exhaust. Your stock exhaust is packed up and sent out somewhere that sounds really german and something like "flinghaussen' and then it's cut open and modified.
-For all of the upgrades mentioned above with installation included, the package is "right around $15,000.00"

The german car magazine "Auto Bild Sports Car" was comaparing a Ruf Turbo PDK with 620 PS against an Abt Audi R8 with 620 PS and an tuned SLS with 615 HP.
The Porsche performed in a different league: 0-100 km/h in 2.7 sek., 0-200 km/h in 9.4 sek. and 0-300 km/h in 28.8 sek. His oponents had at least 10 sek. more for 300 km/h.

Not bad for a tune and exhaust only...

WOW that's a lot of money considering they are just gutting your own exhaust. Is RUF still considered a top tier P-car tuner? I know may american tuners have already surpassed what the europeans are currently doing. RUF is hitting the P-car owners with a serious P-TAX.

I remember their 996T exhaust was also a modified OEM exhaust. You'd think with their enormous resources as a proper car manufacturer they'd develop and make their own in-house 997T exhaust. I don't get it.
The kit includes rebuilt exhaust, tune, replacement filter, and clutch kit (for manual). over all the car sounds amazingly insane, plus a one or two years warranty which no other tuners give.
So If anybody thinking of doing it, especially for the newer 997TT or GT2, which both driven in Pfaffenhausen i'd say go for it hands down and thank me later.
RUF are not tuners, they are the only car manufacturers which builds these beast from scratch, engines, pistons, connecting rods, etc, wiring, chassis etc. plus you get all the safety aspects specially their integrated roll cage and a vin number.
