1st Gear

Just got a new (to me) 2010 turbo. When in first gear is it possible to blow it out, meaning will the engine stop before that happens?

I do not know, but please tell us after you give it a whirl.................

I believe there is a rev limiter at some point, but I have never tried it. I can however tell you my M3 had it--OOPS

What do you mean - "Blow it out"? Once the clutch is out - if you mash the gas, there is nothing you can do that would break the gears (short of , you know, hitting something). The rev limited will cut fuel when you get to red line and you will not be able to go any higher, but I've never had the urge or drive to stay on the gas if I hit the limiter by mistake.

This is why I do NOT buy used supercars...fortunately I can afford to buy them new before these sort of antics are performed

Its my understanding that the op is asking if there is a limiter stopping someone from doing damage during over revs - as in if its hit by mistake... I dont understand the question to read - When I run the engine at 9000 rpms (as I do) what happens? And it must be nice to afford a new supercar but i assume you are the minority here. And us poor souls that cant afford new hardly drive them any different than you might.
