Flash/plug issue again

So fustrsted with the continuing plug issue with my softronic flash. I don't think its the flash but first set of plugs Ik22,s lasted 14k. Now the densco plats started missing at high boost yesterday with 11k on them. Is there a fix? $500 a plug change is getting old. Thinking about going back to stock tune..

I had the same problem. It turned out to be my MAFs. Porsche would not warrant the MAFs because they claim that the oil from BMC filter could have fouled the sensors.

If MAFs are bad would it only miss at high boost? Runs good at all other speeds

Does you car run well with fresher plugs? My tuned motor requires new plugs every 10K miles. Best,

Eventually those of us who tumble down the slippery slope learn that every modification entails some compromise or downside. We give up some comfort, reliability or take on additional expense in order to gain power, go faster, etc. Sometimes our efforts are rewarded on our first attempt, other times stuff doesn't work as planned and it becomes a large pita.

So, the way I would look at $500 spark plug changes would be to say it costs 5 cents a mile assuming a life of 10,000 miles and my car runs perfectly. If I could find a plug that lasts 20,000 miles it would probably have some performance downside which is why tuners generally recommend a specific plug for a specific tune but I would save $0.025 per mile. Now, perhaps it's just me, but considering the $$ and angst I've invested into my car, a 2.5 cents per mile premium is just a (very small) rounding error and seems like cheap insurance to make sure the other tens of thousands of dollars of modifications perform to their full potential. Just a little perspective......best

Absolutely. Running a little lean (computer thinks there is less air because of MAF sensors) will only be noticeable under load and boost.

Do you notice that the warming up idle is rough when your plugs are playing up?

Ask the dealer to look for a lean idle fault, and measure the MAF voltages.

I want to do this too but am afraid of the plugs needing routine replacement. How many miles are on your car MJA?

The plugs yousef recommends are good. The BKR we use in other cars, Subaru, EVO. The IK22 which we have used for a long time I guess can burn out early depending on driving. We typically see about 10-15K on them. IK22 is on national backorder and we are out of stock so going with the BKR is not a bad idea.

Thanks for the info and now I understand this is something you have to deal with while having a tuned car. It's still worth it..... Going to try the BKR,,s so I Know it was started stock gap but what is stock gap? Will the plugs come pre gapped ?
