P1095 OBD Code 1 week after upgrades

New to this forum....so let me introduce myself (OK, my car)

I have owned my 2007 Turbo for 6 months now (16K miles on it). About 3 weeks ago I upgraded the engine with IPD Y-pipe, GT3 Throttle Body, IPD 82mm plenum, and FabSpeed CF intake. Big difference in acceleration, power comes noticably faster. I plan to dyno again in a few weeks to see what results from the upgrades. The car dyno'd (Mustang) at 425awhp and 430awtq in sport mode before the upgrades

I drive the car for 2 weeks after the upgrades when I suddenly get a check engine light. No felt difference in the car. I put my reader on it that night and find code P1095 - Air Mass (HFM) ahead of thottle valve - implausible. I cleared the code. Start the car a week later and code pops up again, still no precieved change in performance of car. Clear again, drive another 2 days, P1095 again.

I am told that this code could be due to the increased air flow from the upgrades. I am wondering if I should continue to clear the code and see if the car adapts to the new parts (again, I have read that this car needs time to adapt) or go to the dealer to have them check it out.

Just looking for some advice from those of you with more experience with mods than I have.

Thanks..........

Your MAF sensors are confused by the amount of air going in and that triggers an error. It seems rather weird to me the fact that so many people upgrade their TB with a bigger one without a tune and they expect the car to tune itself... It simply can't! Porsche engineers chose that Y-pipe and that TB for a reason, they are not stupid. And I really doubt the fact that when you installed the parts the car was noticeably faster, because imo it wasn't. Stage 1 upgrade in a 997 turbo consists of a tune, a filter and an exhaust. Stage 2 is the addition of an intercooler. These are the upgrade steps and they are the same for everyone. I noticed also you have the factory exhaust. If I were you I would certainly get rid of that Y-pipe and the larger TB and get a tune+exhaust for sure...

Thanks for the advice. Though I did say the car was quicker IMHO, not faster. I was not expecting the car to tune itself, I was only quoting some research that indicated that the car will ADAPT to changes.

I am considering a tune and exhaust. Research in progress.......

A tune and a decent exhaust will totally transform the car. I am pretty sure you'll like it a lot. The car can adapt to an exhaust and an intercooler. When it comes to larger Y-pipes, TB's and/or upgraded turbos it needs a tune to take advantage of all that.

It's been 9 years since I opened this thread and I still get the P1095 code intermittently throughout the years of driving. The was smoke tested twice until recently without finding any leaks. I recently had the code pop up twice in the past month. This time, I had my local Porsche specialist, HBi Automotive (Mocksville, NC), look into the problem. They find the leak with a smoke test (see pix). The IPD Y-pipe has a 'defect' in a plug used to block off the 997.2 port near the throttle body. I contacted IPD to discuss the problem. One look at the pictures and they replaced the Y-pipe at NO COST to me. This is what I call customer service!

I want to thank HBi for finding the leak after other professional shops, including a Porsche dealer, could not.
I want to tank IPD for providing the kind of customer service that we all hope to get from parts suppliers.

That is truly amazing customer service. 6 years later? Not sure anything I have ever owned would be backed up for that long. Last time I made a call like that was when my Bauer skates cracked 3/4 around the boot. They guy asked how old they were, when I said 4 years, he laughed.

By the way, did you ever get that tune? On any turbo engine, upgraded ECU instructions give you the biggest bang for your buck.

Like one of the posters my upgrade path has been (will be):

1. Exhaust - done
2. ICs & air pipe - have them need to install
3. Tune
4. LSD
5. Clutch (when I waste the current clutch after #3)

There really are companies out there that stand behind the quality of their products. The lesson I take away is to always contact the manufacturer, if possible, if you believe that the product is defective, even if out of warranty. You won't what they might offer unless you ask.

Yes, I ended up using COBB software with my setup. The car recently had an engine out service, replacing water pumps, pinning lines, sensor replacement, coil packs, essentially everything that might go wrong in the next 4-6 years. I also upgraded the recirculation valves on the turbos to handle the higher boost with the COBB tune. The car is making 550hp/575tq at the wheels with the tune. The original tune made 500hp/550tq at the wheels.

In my experience, you will probably not make it home without clutch slippage after the tune.

Wow, even with a relatively new clutch in there (was done before I got the car)? Hmmm.... well I wanted to stagger the investments, maybe I have to reverse the last three.

I ended up replacing the clutch during a recent engine out refresh. There were plenty of hot spots on a clutch with ~30k miles. It has been slipping plenty during the last 6-8 years tuned to 500awhp/550awtq.
