HUGE thanks to GMG.
HUGE thanks to GMG.
I jumped on a really cheap GMG exhaust, here on the forum and bought it with no pictures. When it showed up, it was clearly well used and enjoyed.
No hard feelings at all, I got a great deal on the exhaust.
I called up GMG, and asked if I could buy new clamps and brackets for the exhaust. Mine had gotten crushed in shipping. They offered to have me ship the exhaust in for them to check out, and clean up... they would repair the brackets and polish the exhaust to a mirror shiny finish. This service was offered to me at less than 10% of a new exhaust, so I figured I might as well.
What I got back blew me away. They were extremely communicative about the whole process, sending me detailed photos along the way, and got the exhaust back to me in about a week. And, wow! The pictures speak for themselves. They did an absolutely beautiful job taking care of the exhaust and making it look almost brand new. Hard to believe it's the same exhaust!
Thanks much Jerry, Fabryce and Joe!

After admiring the exhaust when I got it back, I installed it. It sounds great, smooth and mellow at idle, but pretty aggressive when you get on it. It's not totally drone free, but not bad. I'll let the family make the call, I don't mind a bit of drone, but sometimes the wife does. I really like the sound the car makes now, it's very aggressive and exotic sounding under heavy throttle. Fitment was good, and I was able to install it without having to remove the bumper.
Compared to the AWE exhaust that was on the car, it's pretty similar in overall loudness, but more aggressive when on the throttle and a smoother, more exotic sounding exhaust note. It's louder than the Milltek I had, although the GMG is a bit louder at 2000 rpm. I won't make a comparison with the EBwerks yet, since I haven't heard the final revisions. (Still waiting on some parts)
Definitely lighter than stock, and the dual tips look great! (although I like the tips on the current GMG exhaust better!) We'll see. If I end up thinking this was too loud, I'll switch to the Europipe Stage 1 that I have waiting, but I'd really miss the sound this one makes.
Sorry to reply to my own post.
(and yes, I have an exhaust disease!)
