Fireballrun 2012

Hi all! I have just returned from the Fireballrun "Northern Exposure". My Turbo had to do over 5000 miles in 10 days. For those who don't know what the Fireballrun is, it is a race for helping to recover Americas lost children.

Here are a few pictures:

What was the entrance fee? Or should I call it the donation amount required to participate?

Yes, it is a bit pricy ($7.500 starting fee) but if you consider that we have found already more than 40 kids, and three in this run, it is totally worth it..

I like children too… I just can't finish a whole one!!
Congrats on the progress. So, what seems to be the common cause of these kids going missing? Are they being kidnapped by some sickos or they are running away, or what?

Different reasons, but mostly kidnapped (around 80% of these in some kind family related)... Ours (every team has assigned one kid), Haleigh Cummings, went missing out of her bedroom in February 2009 and was not seen since. One can imagine what parents go through in such a horrible situation...

Looks like a fantastic event. We're you able to get sponsorship help as well?

Props to you!

Unfortunately most missing children are the result of family abductions (82%), and the majority of the rest are by a family friend or somebody the child knows (another 11%), leaving only 7% that are abducted by strangers. As a parent myself I also can't imagine either how a parent could possibly deal with a situation like this.

Props to you for participating in such a great event supporting such an important, worthwhile cause. So the girl you were assigned just disappeared one night out of her bedroom? That's just incredibly scary. I'm betting her parents were probably sleeping in a room nearby when it happened. The self blame I would feel would certainly eat me alive asking myself constantly if there was anything I could possibly have done. Unfortunately in a case like this where it sounds like a stranger took her, it's highly unlikely she's still out there or that any trace will ever be found. That is just so incredibly sad...

There is nothing to be embarrassed about. As far as the owner told me, only two of these cars exist. It is a Devon GTX.

Thank you for supporting this most worthwhile event. It has to be gratifying when you learn of a successful recovery. Well done.
