Best settings for 1/4 mile?
SubscribeGoing to the drag strip soon for the first time with my 997.2 tt. I have PDK and will use launch control; should PASM be in sport mode or not? Should traction control be on or off?
I would also like to know....should traction control be turned OFF when using launch control?
in my gone 997.2 ttS I just put it in sport plus mode and did not touch anything else. Used lauch control one time at the strip and ran 10.7@129. Amazing! Better than any ride I can think of at 6 flags.

To activate launch control you have to have sport plus engaged, then you hold your left foot on the brake, floor the gas pedal with your right foot, the car will engage launch control, then you just lift off the brake pedal. Originally Posted by Doc GTO

I'm just wanting to know if the PASM should be on or off for the best launch and 60 foot, and also if the traction control should be on or if it would impede the launch to much by not letting the engine rev if the tires are spinning some?
I did not touch TC when I did it. My 60 ft was 1.58 . 10.79@129.12 to be exact.

Is there a list of 1/4 mile results on this forum for 997tt's? Your run has to be up there as one of the best, unreal for a bone stock car right out of the box!
You'll find lot's of threads about qtr mile runs and thoughts on best launch tactics to achieve optimal 60ft times.
Tips and PDK's traditionally outperform 6spd's in the qtr mile due to the ability to brake boost. It's not uncommon for a tuned tip to also get into the 10's.
I bet you'll you find the optimal launch after a couple runs. Try with sport plus engaged first and traction control on and then try it with it off.
Good luck, look forward to reading about your experience.

I just ran a few today in my 07 6 speed car. No real power mods. Exhaust only with stock paper filter and factory tune. 11.5 at 123mph on a 1.77 60ft. Launch control was my feet!
Read your owners manual!
For Launch Control put it in Sport PLUS mode...step on the brake hard and push the throttle all the way to the floor past the kick down button. When the car rev's to 6500rpm and the rev's bounce keep it floor and let of the brake fast.

Maybe you should read the post, as my question had nothing to do with how to activate launch controlOriginally Posted by mdrums
