Lug nut recommendations?
Lug nut recommendations?
Hi,
Are there any recommended lug nuts for the 997TT other than the OEM variety or the $500+ Titanium lugs?
Is there nothing in between? I find the stock ones look really lousy and the Titaniums, will end up costing way too much by the time they get here to Canada.
Thanks

good thread. ive been looking for a set too. A couple of years ago i bought some simple 18in alloys from modbargains.com and got the set of 60 dollar lug bolts and they looked nicer than the OEMS.

We have been making lug bolts for a few years now. I started by making them for the Mercedes guys but have since been selling them to many other makes. My lug bolts are made from SCM435 hardened steel and they are available in both ball seat and conical seat. We have them in the proper thread and pitch for the Porsche market and we sell them in stock length, 12mm longer and 22mm longer lengths. They use a 17mm socket size as opposed to the 19mm socket size that the standard Porsche bolt uses which will give you more room in the wheel lug openings to prevent scratching of the wheel from the socket.
Tim941NYC and ProdigyMB both have these black lug bolts on high horsepower cars and they are always changing tires on their cars. these black lugs are very resistant to scratching and these two customers are a good testament to that.
If you have any questions about lugs, I have spent a lot of time over the years researching and making them. Please feel free to ask me any questions that you may have.

Sorry, but I do not have any really good pictures of them but here is some. We tried making some with the floating ball and the 19mm socket head but we were not happy with how the lugs seated with the flank nut and the aluminum ball. It also had a poor appearance and most of the people that are interested in buying colored lugs from us are interested in improving the appearance of their car.

The original post doesn't specify getting them from a Canadian vendor or the cost of getting them into Canada, that is why I posted the question the way I did. I know Maxspeed is Canadian.
Thanks for all the replies.
Shipping to Canada is problematic via fedex or ups ground. They charge brokerage fees which are outrageous in addition to the taxes. On a $500 purchase, it can hit $175 just on brokerage. You can avoid these charges sending them by air next day but then it's lot for heavy items like lugs, and the price reflects it....the fees are still in the cost.
So, for these I prefer to get them in Canada.
So, what are the pros and cons on different types of lugs?
Titanium, cost.
OEM look like cr*p.
What about stainless?

thx!
If you stick your finger in the lug bolt opening and feel the base of the hole where the lug bolt seats to the wheel you can figure out what kind of bolt it uses. If it is at a straight angle it is a conical seat, if it is curved then it is a ball seat.
