Angry Turning Noise

I, know this Topic was mentioned before but I can't find the Thread so Im posting my own. When driving the car 10-15mph making a sharp turn or when parking the car I hear a Clunking noise coming from the front end. It really bother's me. I previously had 2003 ///M3 and I know it's hard to compare these cars are miles apart but NEVER experienced that before. It almost sounds like the Springs are Retrackting not sure if that is a proper or correct exsample. How can I prevent this ?

Is it a metallic clunking sound or a stutter/thumping sound?

If the latter it is likely the stiff tires and the locked turning radius

Check out this thread

And similar issue with the 991

If everything is stock you shouldn't be hearing that notice. If you've put on lowering springs this makes sense and is "normal" in that setup- springs binding.

Your local shop/dealer can confirm this.

I, do have H&R's Springs so this is normal? I, was really hoping I could fix it asap.

I don't believe it will go away. It's frustrating I know, one would think if all is "normal" this type of noise shouldn't be present but...it really boils down to how all the compenents work with each other. Now that the car is lower and spring type changed it now will make some noise in certain situations, e.g. slowly turning out of a parking spot with the wheel engaged all the way left or right.

This is not unique to Porsche only, take it by your trusted shop and see if they validate this and or see something else that may be causing this.

I think if someone created a thread on this polling those who have lowering springs only you'd be suprised by the respones. Also, I've actually heard of this happening on GT3s, RS, etc. that have a more agressive suspension from the factory.

For what it's worth...IMO...the lowered stance with some noise is accpetable given the appropriate look vs. old ride hight. It's certainly not for everyone and does impact going up driveways, etc, but hay, you can't have it all.

it may be sway bar link. My passenger side did it after I put on GMG lowering springs. I never got around to replacing the link and then the noise went away, lol. Sounded like a clunk/rattle when going over irregular pavement or into the driveway on an angle. Installer said there was a little excess play in the link. If it comes back I'll replace that first...

search the 991 forums for "turning noise" you'll see the thread and video

but the issue I'm referring to is more of a thump and stutter when turning full lock at low speed coming from cold hard tires. I think you mentioned your sound is more of a metallic sound

I'd get it checked out, not convinced it is the lowering springs as I have been in a few turbos with H&R and GMG lowering springs and have not heard or experienced any spring binding as was suggested in another post
