Anyone had both C6Z06 and 997tt? Comparison input wanted.
I just flash my car not too long ago and next week I'm getting EP1 (the most popular tune & exhaust in the forums) I'm planing to take my car to the dynno as soon as I install EP1. We'll see if I can make it to 500 WHP
I love the 997TT but I think the Z06 is faster and the power is always there.... (I'm talking about stock cars) I'm sure my 997 TT is faster than my Z06 but my vette was 100% stock.

Look forward to seeing your numbers, sir.
Cheers.
Some really good conversation going here. On a car forum it's really refreshing to see an adult conversation rather than a 'my car is better than your car' sh*tshow.
The last time I took the Z out I was enjoying it on the freeway. The thing just pulls...pulls, pulls.....3rd gear, 4th gear, even 5th. Truly a great experience...mashing the throttle...hearing the snarling exhaust and feeling the car hurtling you forward and not wanting to stop. I don't want to lose that.
I've had turbo cars before and the experience just wasn't the same. It's more of a climax that builds- as opposed to an instant burst of gratification as with the 7.0L V8. To be fair with my old turbo cars I wasn't talking 500whp.
But from reading the threads here for some time, I have a hard time believing I can achieve 500awhp easily with a tune and an exhaust on a 997t.
Can a tuner chime in here with some factual data? I'm not going to be happy with a car slower than my Z that costs 2x as much.

The cars are completely different animals. It is hard to do a comparisson, but if you must, the Z06 is definitely a FASTER car in stock form.
The Z06 with an intake and a tune ($ 750) and gutted cats will trap 129-131mph...a 997tt will need a lot of goodies to be able to get close to that speed.
The main difference is weight and gearing. The Z06 has both of those. Now, the newer TTs with the PDK are in a different league. They are considerably quicker (in stock form) than the older 997.1s...that is a fact.
I have a 997TT EVT 775...it is fast and it has tons of power mods as well as suspension mods so it is not a fair comparison to a Z06. I love the TT...but when I had the Z06, I was also quite fond of it. It was always the underdog.
I also had a gen IV viper and it made 600rwhp...the Z06 with 110 less rwhp was faster. Gearing and weight is huge.

I love my car...heck, I have owned it for 3 years and that is a record for me. I bought my car with 95% of the modifications done. I simply had to do some tweaking and adjusting. I know if I would have bought it stock there would be no way in hell I would spend $ 80,000 to get it to where it is today. I am glad someone did that for me as I would have not.
With all honesty though, the car is so well balanced that I would struggle finding something in the $ 80k - 150k that would make me as happy as this car...and I have been looking.

where did you read this? In my conversations with them, their 775 kit would trap in the 130-131mph with race gas...

From their website:
Performance Data: When we finalized the tuning on our ClubSport line of EVT Performance Systems for the 997TT, we decided to run it out at the drag strip. The car we tested was a 2007 997TT -6Speed. After 3 fast runs, we were kicked out so we could not try and better our time / speed. The best time we posted was a 10.55 @ 136.80 with an overall best speed of 137.71 MPH. We ran into some SERIOUS traction issues due to how hard the car launches. The car cut a best 60' time of a 1.655 which is great for this car with tire slippage. This upgrade has a 138+ MPH trap speed in it with a low 10 second time.
I agree, considering Chris from USP got his tune only car to trap 127 on 100 octane.
You are correct. In my experience- on a RWD car (like the Z) with a plethora of tuners- for some reason the dyno results were very consistent and could be trusted. People could gauge their ET's/trap speeds off their dyno numbers with accuracy. Sure there were dynos that were known to read higher than others...but as a community we all knew which tuners tended to be dyno queens.
In the Porsche world it appears the opposite is true. Get your times and then estimate your HP. I must say I've never seen such variance in dyno results/estimates (w/graphs or word of mouth) as shown and discussed here. I'm sure it has to do with the fact that there are far less AWD dynos than 2wd dynos.
I've got an appointment to go drive a local one for sale this week. I think a test drive will help me answer a lot of questions I have.
That said -
Again - I appreciate the excellent conversation here. I'll be honest- I'm not familiar with Porsches at all. Just the 997tt intrigues me (as it should any car enthusiast) due to the AWD, the handling, the look and of course the twin turbos. Beautiful car- just may not be for me. We will see.
Cheers.

Also saw a 959, a CGT and a bunch of GT2's and GT3's as well as some vintage Porsche race cars.
Now just wanna drive one!
