Anyone had both C6Z06 and 997tt? Comparison input wanted.

I just sold my Corvette C6Z06 with my eyes set on a 997tt.1.

Browsing around I'm seeing that stock 997's are putting down 385-400awhp. Stage 2 mods get you up to around 430-450awhp. Stock Z06's put down anywhere from 440-465whp in stock form. My Z wasn't stock.

I'm a speed/power freak...and it appears that I'll have to shell out for an exhaust/IC's/tune right off the bat to try and match my former cars power levels. I will say I didn't get full traction in the lower gears on the Z.

I don't want to hear about interior stuff/handling stuff...and don't want this thread to turn into a pizzing match...just want some educated and experienced opinions on power.

Power wise - Am I going to be disappointed with a lightly modified 997t?

What will get me to 500awhp? Will I have to upgrade the turbos?

Thanks in advance, gentlemen.

With the right tune and exhaust, you can get to 500whp easy, with nothing else. And with the rear weight bias, you probably won't have much of a traction problem, with decent tires.

I have a modified Viper and I just bought a 997.1 tt with the evt700 package. I sold a ferrari Scuderia to buy the porsche. The Porsche should be putting down close to 600hp at the wheels. I have to say that I have been really disappointed in the Porsche. This is my second turbo. Even with all the mods it just isn't very fast. My Viper puts down 588 to the wheels and the turbo just barely keeps up with it. I'm going to try a few mods to help reduce the turbo lag but if that doesn't work and make the car a lot more fun I am going to sell it and pick up a TT viper. Honestly the evt 700 package does not feel much faster than stock. If you are looking for real fun I would look elsewhere.

sucks that you are disappointed with the car

that said, I cant believe anyone thinks a 997tt, even stock, is slow. the car traps 120 in stock form which is blazing. I also personally don't notice any turbo lag in this car, it pulls hard at all RPM over 1500

especially on a race track, that kind of pace is not exactly easy to handle.

I think the difference is deceptive. The Z snaps and yanks where as a tuned 997tt feels like a sail catching a large wind and a firm but soft and smooth push. Some things feel fast because they are more visceral.

I have the 65mm vtg's and they really don't start to boost until 4k rpm. And even then they take at least a second to 1.5 for the boost to roll on. I'm going to try some mods to reduce that. I think that will really help my enjoyment.

I just went with a protomotive mafless tune and that helped a lot. I think it just needs more supporting mods at this point.

580 HP in the 997TT is not that hard to get it... you just need a good TUNE and a decent exhaust.

I have intercoolers. Im thinking ipd ypipe and doing a short intake that goes just in front of the ic's. The intake tubes are very restrictive that go from the air box to the turbos. Im hoping the y pipe will increase flow while decreasing pressure to keeps the pressure relief valves from letting the boost escape so fast.

There is a guy in the forum who has one for sell, check on the Marketplace, what IC do you have in the car?
