And no bro the CLS63 will just get basic stuff...Lowered, wheels, DP and Tune (AMS).

The GTR trans will be at sheps by this coming tuesday and when he sends it back we will put it back in the GTR and retune. Broke 4th gear on the built trans on the dyno. I will also be pulling the motor out next weekend to get everything coated, new lines put on and just go over everything in there since I seen the work Dana has done and it hasnt been good. So when I put it up for sale I want to make sure it is perfect for the new owner.

I will probably get into a TTG SL or a bigger/faster boat. hahaha!! Cant wait to see you 997 and Georges TTG.
Oh ok.

Man all that work just to put it up for sale. It's been a headache for you bro. I hope your next car works out a lot better.

Get the TTG SL (Dream car for me) 1R

Actually no, I'm hoping for 850whp , but we'll see where she ends up. Hopefully a 60-130 under 4.5 as well. Yes most would say it is, but Tym Switzer believes the motor can handle it safely and actually warrantied the build for 2 years. I will be on E85 and have a Syvecs ECU so it should help.

This is just a cautionary note: my car made 960+ tq/980+ whp on Todd's dyno (Dynapack). Some will say that it reads significantly higher than other dynos like Mustang or Dynojet. The point is, that when I took my motor apart I had bent rods. You wouldn't know it just by the performance. So performance wise everything may appear fine but there could be internal problems. You just don't know until you open the motor or something eventually goes really bad. Sort of like clogged arteries and then boom, stroke or heart attack. So I would get a specific guarantee that your rods will not be bent at the 850 whp and more importantly torque level and (or whatever high number you are shooting for) and that your heads will not lift. It would be interesting to see if they will do that. If you're planning to rebuild your motor anyhow (like I was) then it probably doesn't matter that much except that you would want to do it sooner than later. I built my motor as soon as I got the car back from Protomotive. Best wishes with your build.

PS I suspect the problem with these warranties, which I admit I haven't seen, is in the disclaimer section. You really need to read it carefully. That's where if your engine blows, they can say you used bad gas or something mechanically failed (unrelated to the work they do, of course) so it's not covered. You get the picture...

Yeah Todd sees bent rods above ~775wtq on his dynapack from what he told me. So i'm limited to 738 on it. :-)

Dave,
I have a feeling it will end up around low 800's. It's still higher than most would like to go, but Tym is comfortable and I trust him so we will see. They have been selling R911 kits for a long time now and I don't think they would keep selling them if the kits kept destroying the motors. I will get the warranty in writing when I go and visit though. Hows your car running now?

Anthony, No doubt that you have to trust your tuner on this and that Tym knows what he is doing. You are definitely riding the edge with your build so there is not much room for error. You don't usually hear about things going bad on this forum but they do, it's very subtle. Look at all the guys that are rebuilding motors on the 996tt forum and also me plus a few others. The data is there but the reasons are not always apparent.

Work has been so busy that I haven't had much seat time (I'm waiting for the weather to cool off a little too). Best wishes, Dave

738whp on vtg's is nuts! I'm really curious if you can beat the 5.75 that the guys in New York ran with their E85 proto vtg kit. I think you just might. :-)

Yeah I agree with you on people covering up their problems. Everyone always posts how great their car is, but when something goes wrong you never hear anything. There is a handful of people I know that you would have never guessed something went wrong. Trust me If something goes wrong with my motor or anything kit related I will be posting here. I will not be hiding ANYTHING.

I will be inspecting the fine print when I visit Switzer on August 26th so I'll let you know exactly what the fine print says! I understand what your saying.

I think they will keep tq low on the build to try and save the rods. As everyone knows Switzer knows what they are doing. And for blaming it on bad fuel (E85), with the syvecs EMS they can have the ethanol sensor to trigger it to either go into limp mode or a lower power map if Ethanol levels get too low. Luckily we have very consistent E85 fuel here in Vegas...On the other side, if it was me I would want to throw rods in just for piece of mind. I rather build the drivetrain to handle way more then the power I want and will tune for. But I think Anthony is okay with it due to the Switzer Warranty, which I think is amazing for a aftermarket shop build.

I'm not sure where the torque will end up, if I did rods it would run 2k for the rods probably and another 5-10k in labor(not sure just guessing). If I would go that far I probably would just do everything since it would be apart and then I'm racking up a huge build so I'll just wait for a year or 18 months down the road if I decide to do it. I trust Tym and the guys up there. They have had plenty of R911's running around and never had any problems, with the addition of the e85 and the syvecs it should only make it safer.

Thanks Sam! I'm hoping it will be as fast as your GTR was. Going to be tough though!

If I were spending the $$$ for the kit I would spend the extra $$ for rods..Cheap insurance and better to do it now. I have a square hole in the side case to prove it. No more rod, gone...Even with a good tune the OEM rods are just that OEM, not meant for high TQ figures...Good luck with the build and keep us updated!

I honestly would want to build the whole motor instead of just rods, especially if I'm paying the labor to open it up. Maybe next year I'll have Switzer do a 3.8 with GT35's . For now I'm happy with what I have coming. Sorry to hear about your rod. I will definitely keep you posted. I found out I will be hearing an update Tuesday.
