GIAC Software Triggering Limp-Mode Problem?
GIAC Software Triggering Limp-Mode Problem?
UPDATED - Sept 4th
Problem was a vacuum hose to the new divertor valves and nothing to do with GIAC.
I recently upgraded my 2010 997TT (PDK) with the newest generation GIAC software purchased through Champion Motorsports along with a Europipe Exhaust, Champion Intercoolers, Diverter Valves, IPD Plenum, FabSpeed tips, and a BMC filter.
The first week was awesome! Violent acceleration anytime I wanted. But now the car frequently goes into "Limp-Mode" (boost is limited to 1-3 psi) within just a few seconds of full throttle acceleration. If I turn the car off and restart, it will allow full boost and it feels like it is generating full power, but within a short period of full boost it is often switched back into limp-mode.
Does anyone have knowledge of what sensors or what issue would cause the 997-TT to go into limp mode like this?

I have not been using launch control at all and my first thought was temperature because it has been in the upper 90's lately in Dallas. The first few times it went into limp mode the car was just warmed up after about 5 miles of moderate driving. I didn't get into full boost that time until half way through 2nd gear, so I didn't think I was being too hard on the PDK. But I can't rule anything out at this point.
Is Champion giving you any support? I am in the market for a Turbo and was planning on some upgrades and I was leaning towards going to Champion, Keep us posted on what the issue is and good luck getting it resolved quickly.
I haven't contacted Champion yet because the problem just began on this Labor day weekend. I expect good support from them based on my experience so far. I'll post my results after we get it figured out.
Do you have an OBD2 scanner (about $100 on Amazon)? Without diagnostic trouble codes it would just be a guess. Also, imho and as an owner of a tuned car, it probably isn't the software. Too many people get a tune and then when something goes wrong, as it eventually will, blame the software. It's much more likely something mechanical or attributable to the installation of your other mods. Best,

Well TT Surgeon and Steamboat were right! The problem had nothing to do with GIAC. The factory vacuum hose that connected to one of the new Forge diverter valves had split open. The new Forge diverter valves that Champion provided have a slightly larger diameter hose mount that ultimately caused the factory tube to fail after it was stretched over the larger mount and higher boost pressures were applied.
