Window Problem
Window Problem
Does anyone know how the auto window down (1 inch) works when the door is open?
Just recently, the driver side window goes back up after I release the handle. And I have to push door to almost closed before it goes down the 1 inch to safely close.
My passenger side it stays down as long as the door is open, shut door and it goes up.
My driver side now goes back up after opening. If I pull handle while the door is open, it goes down, but back up as soon as I release the handle. I figured out how to safely close the door by getting it close and as soon as it goes down, shut real fast. But it's pain.
Appreciate any help

Storing end position of the windows
If the battery is disconnected and reconnected, the windows will not be raised automatically when the door is closed.
1. Close the windows with the rocker switch once.
2. Press the rocker switch upwards again to store the end position of the windows in the control unit.
Just tried that, no go. Window still goes up once door is opened and I let go of handle.
It should remain down that inch or so while door is open and not go up until I close it but it keeps going up. Something must be in the door broken that tells a switch the door is open. I will probably take door apart over weekend.

You nailed it. I will look into cost of switch Xbox suggested. I'm sure I could do it myself. But I'm not sure that switch is broken since when I pull the handle, the window goes down. From both inside and outside. So there has to be some switch that indentifies when the door is open, regardless if handle is pulled or not.

There is some logic also that are involved but the problem was fixed with a new door handle (and the included switch(es))
I only see one switch in the handle

This is a fairly easy repair. You actually should do it yourself, if you have 3 - 4 hours of free time. It doesn't take that long if you have experience removing the door panel.
The mechanism door latch/lock/window relay mechanism needs replacing. Trust me on this one, if you pull it all apart & just do a temporary fix on the switch, it will last a few months & just act up again, then need to be replaced. Also beware buying the module on eBay b/c some of the ones for sale are not the correct specification (Eurospec or other market). Just get it from a discount OEM dealer like Suncoast or your local dealer.

A friend of mine is a Porsche technician & they fix these things all the time.
Avoid slamming the door helps these modules last longer, but they do wear out after time.
I bought a module on eBay for a discount, it worked okay but the door would only lock with the inside lock button & not from outside. It was very "buggy" & although it corrected the window "down for out & up for in" other things with the lock mechanism were problematic.
I cross referenced the part # with my friend the Porsche tech & it turned out to be a different spec part for a European Porsche.
I bought a new one from dealer, installed it, done!

There is (of course) more to it than a simple switch, I also had the window come down when I pulled the handle but it went up when I let go and try to close the door. I could open and close form the inside though.

But I would still put my money on the latch.

Is that the part that needs replacing?
