2007 911 turbo or 2002 GT2 which to buy?

In the market for a new to me Porsche. Have looked at but not driven yet 2007 911 turbo and 2002 GT2 both standard trans. My question is which one would you buy and why would you buy that car. Want it for mostly the street and once in a great while on the track. Looking to spend 75K for either and there seem to be lots for sale for around that price. Also is the mantence more for one vs the other? I've owned Porsche's for over 30 years watercooled and aircooled.
Thanks ahead of time.
Don

Hi Don! I had the same dilemma for the last 8 months.. and finally my 997tt is on it's way. I've test driven about five 996gt2's and several more 997TT's. I think you'll be slightly happier with a 997TT, hope you find one soon!

Given your intended usage, I'd recommend the 997tt.
The gt2 is a beast on the track, extremely unforgiving, much like a 930. They don't call them the widowmaker for nuthin!

You should drive both for sure as nobody can make that determination for sure. You can't go wrong with either one but as others have mentioned, the 997 turbo is in my opinion a more well-rounded car. Drive both to make sure you make the right decision...then mod the crap out of it and enjoy it even further...
Good luck in your search...

For the street AWD is going to make you feel like Superman. That and the aforementioned interior quality of the 997 make it a no brainer to me. I'd get the 997 Turbo.

Thanks all. I thought the 997 had more creature comforts and probably ridesbetter. The GT2 is just a very stiff suspension with a lot of HP. I was leaningtowards the 997TT as I like the creature comforts as well as the raw push youback in the seat ride.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

The 996gt2 is a really "Harsh" car if you're not into that type of stuff. The gearbox is really tight, the suspention is stiff, and the chassis is rock solid. Also its a bit smaller inside, so its not so roomy. I agree, the 997 interior is MUCH more modern and pleasing.

Personally I wouldn't think twice about it. The gt2 is much more unique and a true race car for the road. But for what you're looking for in a car, 997tt is probably the better choice.
