Is this a Cargraphic Exhaust?
Is this an authentic Cargraphic Exhaust?
My friend just had this installed on this 997TT. He picked it up second hand, but I was almost positive that all the Cargraphic exhausts for the 997 Turbo were stamped with some kind of identification.
Here are some pictures and as you can see, the HJS cats are marked, but no Cargraphic ID on any of the piping or mufflers.
Are there any replicas in rotation right now that he may have gotten tricked into buying or is this the real deal? It looks to be made very well and he says it sounds great now that it's on the car.

That's what I was led to believe as well, however I haven't seen/heard of any replicas that copied their design.
Very hard to tell, you can compare it to my Cargraphic exhaust:

HJS cats are a plus, I guess. Hard to tell why there would be such a long pipe connected to the rear O2 sensor bung, this shouldn't be needed. Cargraphic welds ID plates to the bottom of the mufflers.

Then again, I don't understand why a knockoff company would use HJS high-quality cats.
I'm just confused at this point as to where those ID plates went if this was an original. I suppose they could have been scraped off by bottoming out or something?
I've just never seen a cheap, Chinese knockoff using this particular design.
Apparently this came off a 2007, so I wouldn't think the cats would fail after a little over 5 years, but who knows at this point.

This; a tune that runs rich will cook the CAT. Although it's been done many times by many people without problem, I don't like to buy used exhaust for this reason.
BTW, this does look physically like a CG. But... my 5 year old Cargraphic exhaust does not have that long bung extension and has no CEL. It also has a plaque. To best of my knowledge (anyone pls correct as needed), Miltek is another exhaust that is also made in the same England factory and uses identical cat and core (HJS cat, Emitec core) as CG (and Porsche OEM). The Miltek also looks identical to CG and is equal to the quiet version of CG.
Why is there such a bend in the middle at the connecting pipe? It should be straight across.

The easiest way to determine whether it is a Milltek or a Cargraphic exhauist is by looking at the endpipes.
On the Cargraphic the endpipes are adjustable and reduced to 54mm - 2 1/8 inch right after the muffler can.
With the Milltek the pipes are fixed and 60mm - 2 3/8 inch.
