Warning on Red 2008 GT2 on Ebay & Bentley Gold Coast in Chicago

I almost pulled the trigger on this car. After doing some research and talking to Champion Motorsports directly (where the car was built, there are some stories). None of which are being disclosed and shows a clean car fax and auto check. Not stopping anyone from buying, just feel people should be aware. As we know these cars were meant to be driven. I personally hate cars with body/paint work. The car has been modded for 15k miles now with 3 different owners.

Lastly the car was wrecked in a rear end collision according to Champion Motorsports who I spoke to earlier in the day. The rear end needed to be repaired, parts replaced and paint work.

VIN: WP0AD29998S796303

Here is the car:

http://www.bentleygoldcoast.com/2008...CHE&model=911&

Here is the build thread on the car: http://championmotorsportonline.net/?p=57

"One of our customers from California sent his 997 GT2 to us for a slight refresh prior to the 2010 Gumball Rally. "
"Upon arriving back into the US, the customer dropped the car back off at Champion for our Billet Turbo and some other goodies."

The car left the USA for the 2010 Gumball Rally in London. Original owner (Younger) is from California. Notice the front plate.

Youtube video of start of Rally in London:

Here it is. Young kid driving it:

I did the Rally that year, I did the North American Leg.
This car had a New Unpianted Bumper thru out the N/A Leg.
Looked like it was Hit as the Exhaust Tip was mangled.
All in all the car looks great... in 2010

Thank god I stayed away. It has been for sale a while and a few times on ebay. Maybe people are seeing something in person that the pictures don't show. Because the car looks mint from the pictures. The price should throw a red flag though.

this car is gorgeous!
I remember seeing it on ebay!

If it just where some damage to the bumper I don't see any harm

Red is very difficult to color-match.

" The rear end needed to be repaired, parts replaced and paint work."

^ Well, what parts were replaced?

Any rear end collission is going to have the bumperettes and likely bumper reinforcement parts swapped. Did it sustain further damage than this, though?

If not, someone could get themselves a nice GT2.

The rear bumper lower valence is painted. It is typically not. This would suggest that the entire bumper not original.

eBay listing has red seat belts listed as one of the car's options. Seat belts generally lock up and need replacing after an accident.

As a counter point when ever you see a car with a cage and that has been used in any form of time trials the stock seat belts tend to get lost. With all that red in the interior the car I cannot imagine not getting the belts in red.

Rear bumper is not the end of the world on a car at this specific price point even if it got scratched and replaced on the owners dine you never will see it on a report. If the DME is clean of overrev and the car passes a PPI inspection I don't see anything really wrong with the car as it sits.

GT2's get raced, you do not buy one and modify it so you can putter to the shops. you certainly don't spend 35K or so making it faster so you can just stare at it.

I wouldn't trust Bentley Gold Coast. They are liars and their cars have been abused which they try to cover up. Had a terrible experience there. Stay away, regardless how tempting the price, you'd be paying for it in the end.

OK...so to put the speculation to rest, I checked the VIN# in our system and yes, this is the same car we built.

Yes, the car was damaged but we did repair it. It was repaired and painted by a certified Porsche body shop and the mechanical repairs we performed made the car perfect again.

That being said, all that work was done over 2 years ago...so what happened to the car between then and now is anyone's guess. Hope this helps...
