Need help with a DME report

I have a 07 997TT Im interested in. Just had the mechanical inspection done, tpms need replacing, and license plate light is out. (Easy stuff).

The DME report readings are below. Im not sure what all this means. Any insight would be great.

Range 1 7110
Range 2 1435
Range 3 312
Range 4 27
Range 5 0
Range 6 0

You are missing a number in your post. You need the total hours on the engine as well as the last number for each range.

However' there are no range 5 or 6 which is great. Range 1/2 and 3 are typically nothing to worry about. Range 4 seems to be a bit debatable based on others opinions and experience. But based on the low number, I'd not worry about the range 4 much depending on the hours. If it was more recently it might be something to think about, again you need the hours to be 100% sure, but assuming it happened many hours ago I say you have a green light!

Post #13 is a great description when reviewing a DME.

This is all I was sent on the report. Should I call the dealer back and ask for the hours?

Your total operating hours are 1168.

But there should be an indication of when the last overrev was for each range.

Just an example. I think you may need to request a reading/report that shows the hours.

Yeah - you really need that info. You'd want to know if the last over-rev in the range occurred at hour 1100 (recent) or at hour 100 (a while ago). At 1168 hours, car probably has about 30,000 miles??

Hi there,

It will be good if you can get hrs associated with the over revs, however to your original question....overall....not the abolute best looking report, but very minimal in the 3 & 4 range, and if the car otherwise checks out, would not keep me from buying it.

Really just trying to determine if someone just abused the car right before trading/selling, or if it happened a while back....and continued to run with no issues....( and in total, you are talking about seconds of over revs)

I would assume from the revs it is a M/T and/or tuned? And should be 30K miles +/- ?

Good luck!

Thanks guys. The car has a tick over 40,000. Price is right (in the lowest end of my target price). 2 owner car with all the right options. PCCB, LSD, short shift, adaptive sport seats, sport chrono.

The car also has a stage 2 techart exhaust system. No other mods are visible. Been serviced at the same dealership for the last 4 years with records. Seems like a good purchase but I'm going to double check the hours.

Thanks so much. I have learned a ton on this site. Everyone is so helpful. I really appreciate it

Great! How exciting! Awesome cars....Good luck. The mileage difference is no biggie. My assessment would simply be the person(s) had more highway miles, so each hour of usage, they traveled farther than an average MPH figure used (i.e. Avg 35 mph when running....typical average may be more like 25 mph for mixed city/hwy).

This could be the case. I was told the car had a stage 2 tune. Not sure by who or what that entails. I'm pending info on that right now.
