O2 extenders for catless 997tt?

I'm looking to get rid of my check engine light after installing a catless exhaust and was wondering where I can get the extenders and if they work well on the 997tt?

They supposedly work well on these cars. I did not need mine because the values were increased with my ECU tune...I have a set that are like new...The good ones (exactly the ones in the link above). I also have new copper crush washers since the ones that came with the set were used to try them. These are ~$50 each. If you are interested I can ship them to you for $50 for the set with washers (that includes shipping also if you are in the US). I think they are still just sitting in my closet in my office.

PM me if intersted and you can use PayPal if you like.

Either way, if you end up getting new from the site, these are supposed to be the best ones.

Good luck.

I currently run Fabspeed's O2 extenders with 200 cell cats and Fabspeed's exhaust with no issues. I will be going catless this spring to (hopefully) remedy a couple of track related issues and am being told by my shop which has consulted with Evoms that the ECU will have to be tweaked to get a clean solution. Not sure if this is to specifically prevent CEL's or to optimize performance but in any case, they are not fans of the extender solution. I too would like to hear from others running catless what their experience has been. Best,

If you've got a cat-less exhaust and no ECU tune, there's a good chance the light will just come back at some point soon.

If you know anyone with a PIWIS besides the dealer (or if your dealer will do it), they can re-code your ECU to the EU country code. That has higher tolerances for secondary O2 readings and helps the light stay off.

However, the only foolproof way to make sure it stays off is with a good ECU tune.

Thank Tom, I do have a EPL tune and no cats. I have been trying to get Tony @EPL to adjust the ECU parameters to get rid of the CE light for 3+ months now bugging him weekly but still don't have an updated flash

Is this something I can take to the dealer to have them adjust the ECU code to EU? Or will they screw up the tune from EPL?

I was just going to message you too Dang!

Well, hopefully Tony @EPL will get me an updated flash sometime this year. From what I am reading the extenders are a hit or miss.

Yep...Sorry. Hopefully you can get your update and end your error! That will likely do it as well. I have a Softronic tune and bought these as a precaution, then discovered the tune precluded any errors, so did not need them.

Good luck with your issue.

I feel you my friend! I tried to get a hold of Tony since Dec\13 through email, PM, PHONE, VM for some 997 package options and was beyond frustrated! Finally got to speak to him......

I had catless as well and EPL was able to program it where there was no engine light & program it so I even past Ontario emissions with the OBD 2 emissions.

They are good and they can do it, but the real reason I went with EPL for my 996t at the time was the customer service I got from Tony... no matter how good you are if you let that slip even the most loyal supporters would weary.

Good luck my friend !

What did you end up doing with your 996?

Most dealerships won't really be willing to do it. You'd have to be on good terms with one of the techs. However, I'm pretty sure it would overwrite your EPL tune so I wouldn't really go that route anyway.

I'd let Tony get you a revised tune instead...he'll be able to take care of it for you.

Im sorry, its just plain not true you couldn't get a hold of us for 2+ months.

Tony,

I know you are a great tuner, a true asset to the Porsche community and I have nothing against you.

I would rather not go into detail openly about the above on a forums.

I am in the retail myself and one thing I learned that is very important is to listen to my customers, especially when an issue has surfaced more then once. For example in this thread two of your customers are saying the same thing regarding it being difficult to contact you. Even though you feel you did a sufficient job in communicating, that is not the issue. The issue lies that few of your paying customers do not feel that has been accomplished & are frustrated.

You must of grown a lot since we were first introduced 2years ago and that is understandable because your tuning is top notch, but the customer service I received is not the same 2 yrs later. I can understand as growing pains hit any company, other areas might accelerate causing others to be taxed. Just a suggestion, that as you listen to your customers, this might be an area that needs some attention, as it was that great customer service from you that made me purchase the 911 in the first place to get your BILLET16 kit to make a complete package of a car!!

Again, you are truly an asset to our community and I hope you take what was written to further your already great success my friend!

Sincerely,

Bobby Ali
