sluggish 0-60 time, what could be wrong?

Guys, I'm still getting used to my 2008 997 TT which I purchased recently, car is in pretty good shape I would say and has 45K on the clock only, everything is stock.

I took it yesterday for a 0-60mph test and was quite disappointed to see it come at around 5.3 seconds, not sure if my driving style is affecting this but still compared to the claimed 3.5sec of similar 5speed tiptronic convertible I am not sure what is going on.

Any ideas would surely help.

Turn Sport ON
Turn PSM OFF.

Press brake pedal with your left foot, (very very strongly)
and floor the accelerator, keep your foot until you see 0.3 bar on the boost gauge,

then take your left foot from the brake pedal, and you should be in 3 sec club

Interesting.. Is it the standard to brake boost the 997.1TT? I have seen a few guys mention launching at 3500rpm, and slipping the clutch (ERP Carbon) before flooring it, but I don't recall seeing a post that says to brake boost to launch,

brake boost is for tiptronics..

the method i describe where you slip the crap out of the clutch is similar to brake boosting in the sense that it puts load on the motor so the car can launch harder.

Thanks for the specs on how/when to launch a Tip Emre! I am guessing you should only do occasionally so as not to destroy the tranny? Unless you have an Emre rebuilt Tip....:-)

My Guess, is that something is wrong. It's pretty hard not to get into the low 4 seconds without trying hard.
Have your mechanics check the boost. Sounds like a sticking actuator.

Yo Buddy! Glad your enjoying your turbo and putting it to good use! Something a lot of TT owners lack over here lol.

Without brake boosting (Launch Control) I am not surprised of your 5 second time, with brake boost you should be around 3.9 seconds assuming your car is stock.

From my countless launches and experience in this heat a stock 997.1 will not get lower than 3.8s for some reason (My car atleast)..

You can find my thread below that details the performance mods against time gains, this can be a good reference incase you are thinking of modding as we live in the same area:

I pm'd you my contact number, let me know if you have any questions

Tareq thanks a lot will definitely give you a call, I tried my 0-60 time again with the brake boost this time and it was better (less than 5 sec at least) but still slow, I need to improve 1 sec which I will try again and see if it is doable

where do you tune your car, pp?

Wow that was a great improvement in times, particularly the 100-200km runs.
