Turbo aero kit question
Turbo aero kit question
Hello I currently have the turbo aero kit on my 997 and was wondering if I could also run a champion rear diffuser as well? If it can be done would like to see some pictures.
Thanks guys

I'm confident that you can as the rear OEM valance is the same regardless if your vehicle is equipped with the OEM aero-kit. So, if the diffuser bolts to the 997 turbo then it will fit your car.
I am putting a Champion rear diffuser in the next week or so, doubt there will be an issue.
As PSTT07 said, the aerokit rear valences are really just painted compared to non-aerokit valences, so there should be no interference.
The only potential issue regarding fitment is if you have an aftermarket exhaust that hangs too low (Miltek).

Ideally, when you install our rear diffuser, you should counteract that reduced rear lift by providing additional downforce to the front of the car (i.e. our front splitter). That being said, these pieces start to become noticeably functional at higher speeds, above what most people drive on a daily basis (80+ mph). So for most people they're cosmetic. But the function is there...and adding each piece individually IS having an effect on the aerodynamic properties of the car.
According to the tequipment catalog, the aerokit does indeed contain a rear valence/diffuser unique to the aerokit.
Personally, if I had a factory aerokit, I'd leave it alone and not mix and match a bunch of aftermarket parts. Although, some of the champion stuff looks great.

It definitely can. The OEM aero kit is really only the front lower valence, and the rear wing/decklid. The lower bumper area is exactly the same. We've installed plenty of them on cars equipped with the factory aero kit.
Our rear diffuser is a functional piece that actually has a great effect on reducing lift at higher speeds. For Porsche, the aero design is all about balance....creating a car that's stable for the average person under the most driving conditions possible. They also have to consider things like ground clearance, which is slightly reduced in the back when our diffuser is installed.

The only thing unique about the factory aero diffuser is that it's painted thats it,same with the side skirts which are part of the aero kit, which is why it's so hard to justify the price because you have to buy parts that are already on your car. This aftermarket wing & the other thread with the aero aftermarket lip at least give people an option now for the aero kit for total cost of $1625 instead of $6k.The older our cars get the better the Oem stuff looks imho.
