Shipping from Germany

I am still 2 years away from moving back the US but I have a touch of OCD and like to have things organized in my mind well in advance.

I will be shipping back my 997TT to the Baltimore and I am looking for the safest way to get her back to the US. Has anyone done this and can point me in the direction of a trusted shipper?

I am thinking I want to containerize the car instead of doing the roll off/rollon.

RORO apparently is safer than a container i.e. causes less damage, which usually has 3 other cars in it. Not sure if true but that's what my friend told me, who imports a lot of cars from Japan.

I moved back from Stuttgart (worked for HQEUCOM) and did the RORO. Cheaper and no problems.

I think you need to make sure the car you have is OK for import.

Good, let us know the fee's the Feds will charge you when it hits the shore. I sold a 1994 Speedster to a guy in Germany and they hit him with lots of fee's and had to update the car to German standards. He used a container and nothing was damaged in shipping.

Can't you put it on a C-130 :-)

I have had friends do both, RORO and container and they all had good experiences. Although the guys using the container method were shipping more than one car at a time, which I assume affects the pricing.

Just shipped a 2010 997TT from LA to Germany. My 4th Porsche that has been shipped from the US to Germany (yea, I've been here for 9 years....). Two have been RORO, two have been in containers. No difference in either case as it relates to damage. PM me and I can give you a recommendation for shipping and contact info in case you want to call and discuss.
