Turbo comparison – 997.1 to 997.2 – old news but new to me!
Definitely different. The fogs are the DRL's on the turbo. Or I should really say that they put led's in the foglamps and they come on as the DRL's. Not sure what happens if the DRL's are off.
When you are relating to a PDK vs standard I feel there is a very big difference. When I went from from 3 different 997.1 turbo cars (TT, TT, GT2) I felt that the suspension (excluding the GT2) was better, exhaust tone was better, PCM was better, and it had the fog lights changed to HID. That's the difference! If you want to row gears buy a 997.1 and be very happy you own one. If you are like me and want the PDK a 997.2 is a great option. I have 633wtq and 650whp in a very usable package.
Hoping someone can confirm something for me - i have a friend who just bought a 2011 CPO'd turbo.
His car has the same headlights as my 2009 - which absolutely shocked me - i was under the impression that all 997.2's had the bi xenon, 2 projector lights. I had never seen a 2010+ car without those... can someone please confirm that i am either wrong or right with certainty?
I am looking to try and find something concrete on it. I sort of feel like my buddy got screwed here. Maybe i am wrong.

agreed - i guess it was sort of like the sport chrono option - its an option but most cars had it.
I just have never seen a 2010+ without the lights i guess... you learn something new everyday!
Thanks for the quick response guys!

Yep, most .2's have the PDLS, which steers the headlights as the steering wheel is turned.
Not sure if I made mention of this earlier, but the DFI engine has a much different exhaust note than the .1. The same type exhaust will not sound the same on both cars. And, only the .2 crackles and burbles, the .1 doesn't sound like that at all.

Potential difference
Hello, somewhat resurrecting this thread, but curious what others see since we are eternally comparing turbos.
The 2011 Turbo S I just bought shows the PSI gauge going from 0 to 18. To my knowledge, the car does NOT have a tune. It is CPO'd. Based upon my research/prior review/readings of multiple posts, the range is supposed to stop at 17psi. Not sure that 1 psi matters. However, in my attempt to get to know my car better and compare what mine is doing with others, thought I would ask.
What is the top PSI of other Turbo and Turbo S owners?
I gladly welcome 997.1 and 997.2 and even 991 so as to add the collection of knowledge within this thread.
If memory serves right, the range stops at 14 psi for Turbos w/o the sports chrono. The sports chrono bumps up psi to 17psi for 20 seconds. Turbo S models always have access to 17 psi...no 'overboost.' Please correct me if I'm wrong as I am a new owner that has finally realized his dream car purchase!
Also, in general, does the PSI change with tunes?
At some point I will probably comment on other things I read in this thread, but I would like to have more than 20 miles under my belt.
Cheers!

I know for certain the digital number gauge stops at 17 on my 997.1 since i usually have that up.
Cam Shaft
So I have read about CEL due to varying cam shaft problems. Does this issue pertain mainly to the 997.1 platform? Or, does it extend to the 997.2? Of the few threads I have read, the car was a 997.1 turbo. Just trying to learn more about these cars.
Thanks!
Thanks!
1st and 2nd gear acceleration
So I have read about turbos losing traction/engine cutting off when accelerating from a dead stop. Going from 1st to 2nd seems to be an issue when people are modding their cars. Does this issue pertain mainly to the 997.1 platform? Or, does it extend to the 997.2? Of the few threads I have read, the car was a 997.1 turbo. Just trying to learn more about these cars.
I haven't noticed anything on my 2011 tts, but I'm new to car and have only logged 150 to 200 miles on it. And most of the miles were not racked up by stomping on the accelerator.
Thanks!
I haven't modded my new toy just yet, but I'm tinkering with the idea.

I'm happy as can be with PDK. The only difference I notice between my car that has 14,2xx miles on it and another that I test drove that had 65,xxx miles is the shift points seem to be more deliberate when I put it in sports mode but I believe that is to be expected. When I test drove the car with 65k miles, I didn't feel the shifts, just saw the speedometer continue rising. The other night I put my car in sports mode and got on the accelerator a bit and whooooo, the gear shifts were felt. Honestly, the feeling just encouraged to press the accelerator even more.
I have no idea if there is a "break-in" period with pdk in terms of years or mileage. I would imagine my 2011 is broken-in. Mind you, this isn't a complaint as much as an observation. If I baby my car or just accelerate in a non-boost to low boost...5 psi range the shifting is super smooth...the car just gains speed and takes care of the shifting for you.
