Water leak under rear seats

For months I've been wondering why my windows have been fogging up after I park it. Lifted the rear seat and found the carpets wet. Been searching on the forums and have found no conclusive place to start checking.

There is no dampness on the foot carpet but on the seat bowl on both rear passenger and driver. Any clues to start looking for the issues?

2008 cab.

I'd check the following:
1. Seal between the top and the body
2. Rear window (my personal bet is it's the top edge of this)
3. Top itself (pinhole/hole/rips/tears)

Thanks. I think I can rule out 1 and 3. Point 2 I think can be a possibility but I will also try the wheel well removal and clean out the trap. I also read there was another drain behind the rear speaker panel. I was searching all over the forums to find the DIY for the panel removal too but can't find anything.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the sunroof seal only happened when it rained really hard. Check by unclipping the roof lining from the rear. easy enough takes 2 mins ( pull back towards you) you will see your seal damp / wet if its the case.

Or it can be one of your roof water drain plugs on either 4 corners of the roof. check them if they are sealed tight.

Jako...

See if this helps any??

For the 997, porsche devised a system of drip trays which run against the inner walls of the car, down into a 15mm x 250mmx400mm tray behind the driver and passenger seats (below the carpet insulation) and out a set of narrow drain tubes into a cavity between the body and the plastic inner fender. Silt and other road grime accumulates in a "cake" about 1 inch x 7 inches in this space and can get thicker and thicker as silt deposits.

or maybe this for 996?

Hey Thanks! The problem with schematics is that is hard to interpret. This channel that you are referring to. Is it the one which is accessed through the rear wheel inner wheel lining?

Yeah...Agreed. I think that is the one. I had these references from previous cars. Do not have any better pics or more specifics..but at least that gets you in the ballpark of where to look...

Good luck,

Update - not good. After all the drains were checked and there is still water coming in. Determined the water is coming in from the rear somewhere. Another owner experienced the rear window delaminating from the seal but the shop working on my car said they checked and it isn't coming from there.

They saw water coming in from the rear though and will be proceeding to take off the entire convertible top frame to get behind the rear seat wall. They expect it to be 1.5-2 days of labour.

Not a happy camper at the moment.
