Cobb car at the dealer

Had to take the car to the dealer for some warranty work, got in the car and uninstalled Cobb in a few minutes once back from the dealer reinstalled.

The AP is super simple to use, even the wife could do this

Thanks Cobb!

I really like how tuners are simplifying the upload of their ECU tune files...DIY (FVD is similar)...nice job Cobb!

So every time you bring the car to the dealer you have to remove and reinstall?

IF they would read the dme and see that I'm tuned they would void my warranty. They could also update the dme software without me knowing, that would be bad.

What was your warranty work for. I was told they only look at the DME if you have a very expensive motor or trans warranty issue, heated seats breaking is not an issue. I was also told that when they hook the car up to the OBD2 port that info is automatically uploaded to Porsche so they have lots of info on their cars for the engineers to use if they find a product problem. Maybe would have known about the RMS problems that plagued the 996/986 series cars earlier.

They did that with my car the last time I dropped it off for service, I guess there is an update with the car and PDK. Car seems to idle higher and take off a little quicker with less peddle travel.

Since there is no guarantee they dont connect to the odb2, and it takes 10min to install/uninstall the AP its a simple mitigation strategy

It is my understanding that even after uninstalling the tune the dealer can read the ECU and see that the parameters had been previously changed from the stock settings. Is this not the case?

No I dont think so, not at a normal dealer, there is of course always ways to solve technical problems (if time and resources are unlimited).
