Bent Suspension Components? Or Normal Design?

Guys,

I have a quick question for you regarding a few suspension components on my 997.1TT. Long story short, I have a full Tarett suspension on my car with the exception of a few items and have absolutely loved the mess out of them and their performance. However I recently had a collision and put the car into the air to check to make sure that everything is in order.

There were a few items, rear toe adjustment, tie rod end adjustment, and drop links that look like they MAY be bent. However it is also possible that they are designed this way and I never noticed it before and am simply being paranoid now.

So I wanted to post a few pictures of these items and am hoping that the guys who are familiar with Tarett Engineering components can give me their thoughts on if these items are indeed bent or not so I can order more if necessary.

Thanks for the help/input!

TRG makes a bent drop link, but those tarrets should be straight. Yes, they are bent. RR time. What type of collision?

You seem to be getting deeper and deeper into tracking your car - welcome to the club! Might I make two suggestions? One, if you don't have one find a legit shop to work on your car. Second, and most importantly spend some money and hire a Pro coach for a day to do some data laps and help with the setup of your car. Best if you could have your shop there for trackside support.

Will be money well spent.

Agree, need to get the car sorted at a good shop, get some pvt coaching, suspension shouldn't be flexing that much, working too hard. If the geometry isn't set right, you'll bind, bend and crash. Been there, done that!

I've had damage like that from a tow truck that ran straps around some of those components.

Both the your drop link and toe arms are bent. Let me know if you need replacement parts. You may just be able to replace the heim joint on the drop link and the center link on the toe arm barring any other damage that is not evident from the pictures.

Turns out this was spot on!

Thanks for all of the info and advice guys. After some additional research it turns out the bends have nothing to do with my auto collision. The general consensus is exactly what TwTurbo said, the toe truck driver used axle straps and went around the components to bend them.

As some reference, I do have a great Porsche shop that does most of the work on my car. I simply took these photos prior to sending it over to him. It was he, the body shop, and Tarett that came up with the reason for the damage.

In regards to a AI, I am considering going that route and have actually used one or two in the past for a track weekend. However I am at the point where I can still get better on my own and I would like to improve as much as I can solo and then hire an AI to help me get to the next level. While I am far from an expert, I do reasonably well looking at lap times at several different tracks. With that said, I still get a bit faster each time and plan to hire an AI once that is no longer the case.

Thanks for the help and advice as always guys.
