I did a level 2 FVD tune and it required upgrading two boost sensors...I never dynoed so I'm just curious on my tune compared to yours.

Cheers
I had originally replied..."Thanks SpecG. Interesting, I didn't need to upgrade my boost sensors...Maybe Rhonda can chime in regarding your level 2 FVD tune and why upgraded boost sensors were necessary, I'm curious now myself. I'm also curious about what figures your car would generate on a dyno as we both have level 2 FVD tunes...it would be an interesting exercise!"

Spoke to Rhonda and it turns out that I have their Level 1 tune and NOT Level 2 as I previously thought. I thought Level 2 was synonymous with Stage 2 which typically involve ECU tune + exhaust mod (Stg 3 being addition of intercoolers and Stg 4 adding upgraded turbos, etc)! You live and you learn.

So to better answer your question SpecG, compared to mine, your TTS should have higher TQ figures, produce more torque/boost in the mid-to-low rpm range, and be quicker to 60mph (all things being equal)! And YES, FVD recommends upgrading the two boost sensors to maximize the results of their Level 2 tune (you did the right thing!).

Needless to say, I'm moving forward with FVD's Level 2 tune and I will similarly be upgrading my boost sensors...results to follow!

Wow that's weird. I would think that extra weight would always hinder performance, particularly for the longer/higher mph runs like the 0-100mph or 60-130mph runs. Akunob posted a great 0-60mph time but his 0-100mph time was 7.2 and 7.3 seconds. With just the tune and plenum I posted similar 0-60mph times however my 0-100mph time were a full second quicker (6.3 seconds recorded on my vBox when I was at the drag strip). So I think if he tries again with no passenger his results should be a lot better.

Ak can you go into the STAGE 2 vs 1 a bit more? I was thinking of an FVD tune but was going to add mods. Tune, Exhaust, IPD, etc. But not all at once

I am inclined to agree, I think the car would be slightly faster with ~170lbs less weight! I doubt it would be a full second quicker though...your car is pretty fast Longboarder.

Sure, per FVD, their level 2 tune amplifies the torque output generating an additional +40 lb-ft TQ over the Level 1 +89 lb-ft, for a total of +129 lb-ft TQ. HP gains remain the same at +70HP. There are two requirements (1) the boost sensors need to be upgraded to accomodate the increased boost and TQ, as the stock boost sensors would pull back on boost given their lower calibration and (2) extracting optimal performance from the Level 2 tune requires 93 oct gas or higher while the Level 1 tune functions adequately with 91 oct or better gas.

The +40 lb-ft TQ is available in the low-to-mid rpm range and performance gains should be noticeable over the Level 1 tune (I am perfectly positioned to validate this). Delivery is as easy as uploading the file using the MyGenius tool.

If you are going to add mods in steps, I suggest adding the exhaust/plenum first before the tune. Good luck and have fun along the way!

Customer service is top notch! FVD explains to you what goes into their tunes (there is no black box here) and unlike some others, FVD doesn't shoot for sheer max power gains by pushing the flat-6 engine to its limits by overriding (or really pushing) safety parameters!

LOL...I look forward to reading about your additional power mods. If Spoolbus is anything to go by, I'm certain that if anyone can extract the most out of the .2 DFI engine, you probably will...

My car is a 997.1

DFI engine is cool but I decided to stick to what I know which is the Metzger. Not planning to go crazy with this car. It took 4 years and many stages to get SpoolBus to where it is today. So it will be a while before I'm a player in the 997 ballers club.

My guess is that the power on a Stage 1 tune is fairly even across the board for all tuners so I would think that in similar conditions your car would do the same numbers. I did those numbers mentioned in my above-post at the drag strip when it was pretty cool outside at a density altitude that was fairly low - like 400 feet. So if you did your run with a passenger on a warm day, then that could account for the difference.

I know cars are as suseptable to balancing as a boat but I know my boat is an 85-86 GPS with the correct ballast or passenger and alone it can drop to 81 when out of balance. Granted its a v hull that you need on the pad and weight to either side can hinder that
I dont think its a true full second faster because other factors come into play. but I can see adding weight to correctly balance would help. Seeing there is lot of weight in the back adding more front might help you on the launch and that could results in faster times.

Longboarder my 0-60 time is quicker with 2 bodies due to better traction but slower the faster one goes. There is no doubt 60-130 would be slower.
