Traded my 997.1tt in on a 2014 Jaguar F-Type V8 S
Hey Guys, We'll I made the hard decision this past week to trade-in my 2007 911 turbo for a 2014 Jaguar F-Type V8 S convertible. It was a dealer sales rep car with 2,000 and I was able to buy it for $20k off MSRP. I was looking for an orange (they call it Firesand) V8 S with the black 20 inch rims. Just happened to find one in Virginia and worked quickly to work out a fair trade for my car. Drove up this past Friday and back the same day.
Thoughts - I love the fact that it's a convertible - this was one of the primary reasons I started looking at getting a new car. The exhaust sounds really good and I love that it has controllable bypass valves to control when and where you want it to make a lot of noise. The exterior of the car is absolutely stunning in my opinion, from every single angle possible. To me this is one of the most beautiful modern cars currently available. The ZF-transmission is actually quite good. Very quick shifts and throttle blips on downshifts.
I know I will miss my turbo and manual transmission a lot and will likely be back in a turbo at some point, but I wanted something different if I was going to make the shift rather than simply going to another 997.1 or 997.2 cab. Anyways just wanted to thank all the forum members here. A ton of real car enthusiasts own these cars. A quick glance at the Jaguar forum shows not near the number of true enthusiasts (at least not yet). Very little modding, etc.
And lastly, as a shameless plug, I have listed 5 separate aftermarkets parts from my car that I now have for sale. All the listings are in the Marketplace section of the forum, subsection Parts. Feel free to pm me on anything:
- Kline Exhaust with cats (now sold)
- Maxspeed exhaust tips (now sold)
- FVD LED Tail lights (now sold)
- FVD Wheel spacers (now sold)
- TechArt Type I adjustable spoiler (now sold)
Thanks again,
Russell

Russell - congrats on the Jag! I agree with you on how stunning the F-types are. I finally got a peek at a coupe at my local dealer yesterday and was knocked out. Enjoy and report back with a comparison between the the new car and the Turbo.

I have had a ton of interest in the 3 hours since I listed everything.
The LED tail lights, exhaust tips and wheel spacers are now SOLD.
I only have the Kline exhaust and TechArt spoiler left.
Thanks again and sorry to those that responded after I had already sold the items.

Acceleration is obviously a step-down from the turbo but still quite quick. Very similar to my previous C63 AMG. It has a 5.0L Supercharged V8 which is good for 495hp. Reported 0-60mph time is anywhere from 3.6-4.2 sec depending on who did the evaluation. It's certainly no slouch
I haven't driven her enough to really evaluate hard cornering but the suspension is adaptive. There is a Dynamic mode in the car, similar to Sport mode in the Turbo, that sharpens throttle response, stiffens suspension, opens exhaust bypass valves, makes steering more direct - and these changes really transform the car.

The high's are nice with the system but the midrange bass and subs distort pretty bad when you try to get a little kick. I'll have to see how hard it will be to just swap the midrange and sub speakers and leave everything else stock as my 'modified' turbo setup was much better with no distortion. Even though I now have all the modern bells and whistles with the system the sound isn't what I had in the turbo!
Post a review of your new exhaust once you get it installed. I am considering buying the Kline because my mechanic can get a reasonable price on them.
So, I'll post my opinion after I receive it. I am excited and can't wait
