997.1 turbo OEM shifter play/rattle

My OEM shifter has what I think is too much play/slack. Is this normal?

If it is normal, does the OEM ssk have the same play/slack?

Does the numeric racing assembly have this much play/slack?

What do you have? You have "p ssk" listed in your sig. Is that OEM ssk?

Yes, theyre all like that. i literally had a couple of different SSK's (oem and non) , and it sill had that rattle. on a numeric ssk now... and it still has it.

Wow that is disappointing to hear! Seems so "cheapish" for a Porsche.

Does anyone know if the numeric assembly has this problem?

dzenno is infamous around these parts
If you look underneath the leather boot you'll notice that play is introduced due to shifter slop between the lever and the plastic on the sides. I think you could fix it easily with some sort of a metal c-clip in there to take up the slack. I have the same issue on my 6MT. I'd give that a shot.

Mine is the same as yours with oem short shifter. I would love for a resolution on this tho!! really irritates me! Especially since the rest of the car is so tight!

would it be too much to ask to record a video on your phone and upload to youtube? I'm extremely curious to see confirmation.

I was almost ready to pull the trigger on either unit until I read they both (OEM ssk and numeric) suffer from this same "blemish".
