iPhone / iPod Connector in center Console
iPhone / iPod Connector in center Console
My car came from the factory with a black cable for an iPod/iPhone 4S connector. 30 Pin type. That served me well for a while. When I upgrades to the iPhone 5 I just left my old 4S in the car as a "iPod" music only player and used my new phone as a Phone through blootooth.
I would like to know if anyone had used the 30 pin to Lightening connector to re-use this cable or if anyone purchased the new connector (assuming Porsche made one)
Thanks..........

So, you actually need the $30 porsche combined usb and multi pin cable for that. The one plug cable does not work for charging!

But it will not feed the music. Stupid system.

I am playing mine through my apple 30 pin to lightning adapter .
Pisses me off , I have to disconnect the adapter from the cable in console most times and plug back in . It is like it gets confused and loses it's path .
Also it does not charge and every time it starts it starts at the the top of the playlist , same song EVERYTIME .
I have the cable you mention so I assume that the mutli pin ipod connection will charge the phone?
I just bought one this past weekend and it was actually $50 from Porsche. Goes in the iPod thingy and the USB also to charge and to a 30 pin and then you go to eBay and for $10 you get the 30 pin to lightning. What a mess! I went to Radio Shack and tried the AUX thing but it didn't work, so I called the guy at Porsche and he told me to buy the two and it works now. However, I received an email today from Porsche to bring my car to the dealer for a free technology update, so who knows what that means? It reads it could be both hardware and software. Maybe I can return the cords!

I would switch to the iPod cable if I were you. The fidelity through the AUX jack is horrible. The iPod cable is a line level connection instead of going through the Apple headphone amp.

Yep I did not get the double cable with my CPO car either so I bought if from Suncoast, not $50 but $35-40 IIRC.
I have the issue as well where sometimes either my iPod classic or iPhone 5 will "freeze" or take a helluva long time to load up an artist or track listing. I do have >11,000 tracks but the weird thing is sometimes it's snappy and other times sluggish. It actually froze this morning and I unplugged/replugged the phone and it immediately went back to normal. PCM software bug I suspect...
