You guys should stop wasting money on these exhaust systems and just go have a custom exhaust fabbed from a reputable shop. It will be cheaper, it can be as loud (or as quiet) as you want, and it will produce more horsepower. I feel like people are getting screwed buying generic brand x vs brand y vs brand z.

Straight pipes without any x-flow piping could prob be done by anyone who can change tires on the car, its a 50cm pipe, nothing else...

which blows my mind why someone would pay for them. I kinda built my Mroadster exhaust and didnt like it, kinda meaning I didnt weld. Cost was the pipes and mufflers. It wasnt bad.

Well, you cut up your stock exhaust, no returning to stock. If you end up with something that rubs, rattles or drones you're screwed. Lots of expensive units drone, so the risk seems pretty high. You can buy the top hjs cats for $700 - I don't know if that is each or for a pair. The real statement is why the exhausts cost $5000 instead of $2500 and the basic reason is the Porsche tax.

Agreed. Cutting up the stock exhaust is pretty radical.
As it turns out, the more I drive the more I like the Kline. Grand total about 2700 with import duty and taxes.

You dont need to cut up the stock exhaust. If the pro has a mandrel you can bend it and if not you can buy and weld mufflers in place

Not that simple though as the cats are integral. So either you cut the pipes and use the stock cats and create a whole new system with new cats. Pretty clear that you can't just go to a muffler shop and buy cats that will work on a turbo. Back to the expensive solution.

my bad for lacking clarity. You buy the cats and mufflers and install. Its not that hard to weld a connection piece, or just welding the cats to everything. When i "helped" read watched and held a muffler or cat inplace, while the expert did his work, we just welded the cat to the pipes.

Porsche exhausts are overpriced. I don't have any personal experience with Kline, but if you buy a brand new exhaust and crap falls out of the catalytic converter when you take it out of the box it's time for a new exhaust vendor.

Also, why are you putting cats back on the car? They just clog things up and slow the car down .

Actually is quite easy to replace the cats of the stock exhaust. Just buy a pair of 130mm diameter cats (the lenght is the standard of this diameter). I went with race spec (100cpsi) but to avoid engine light in dashboard you have to go above 200cpsi or have a ecu tune that reduces the accuracy in the exhaust sensor that controls cats efficiency. Then cut the stock cats by the welds and replace it with the new set.

I had my car like this for 3 years. I could heard the turbos right away and felt a bump in performance. I only swapped it with kline because the stock muffler has chambers with small pipes connections to reduce the sound which restricts the flow. Kline is a more free flow system because reduces the sound through resonators and x-merge. My kline is catless without any drone issue.

Another case that seems to underestimate the task. "Just buy a pair of cats". What kind? Hjs sells direct I think - but those or a different kind? And the specs are not as simple as buying a 200 cell cat.

Also, this is cutting up the stock exhaust. Although dropping in some aftermarket cats is an easy exhaust mod, then you deal with cel issues as you suggested. I guess going with a high quality cat will avoid the issue, it is really hard to avoid it without a tune.

Why do you keep mentioning cutting up the stock exhaust? you make a new one and there are a number of cats and mufflers you can buy. Or you can create one. You can buy the same cats as anyone like Kline, fabspeed, ep etc. Most guys with their own exhaust shops know how to make that or have a number to choose from aftermarket places.

FVD sells o2 extension pipes, moving secondary sensors out of direct exhaust flow, supposedly allowing you to run a non-tune turbo with a cattless exhaust...

Hi tomb 18

I have had a look at the photos you posted. The material which fell from the cats is clearly machining swarf and dust, and your right, it should not have been there prior to dispatch. If you have any issues, or are unsatisfied in any way, just drop me an email to Felix@kline-innovation.com or to my colleague to Christian@kline-innovation.com and we will replace it any time.

Although the cat should not have been despatched with machining swarf inside, it does not indicate a faulty cat, and will not affect the functionality in any way. and for the life of me I cannot imagine how machining swarf got dropped inside the cat after quality control, perhaps I should talk with the janitors 

Anyhow, we take pride in 100 percent customer satisfaction in every aspect. When you buy a KLINE exhaust, you are not just buying a highly developed system, you are also buying the security that comes with unparalleled customer service, we guarantee every aspect of the exhaust, as well as the customer satisfaction.

As a quick side point. We still offer the same cats as ever. We didn’t do a switch in brand, the EEC cats we use on our base level system are of a very high quality, and in our entire history and over a thousand kline exhausts manufactured, we have only had 1 instance of cat failiure, which we offered to replace instantly.

Due to the many requests, we do now offer an HJS upgrade on the catalysts.

The price for a full system for a 997TT with HJS 100 cell HDPE motorsport cats is 2900 USD, which we feel is pretty good value really 

All the best guys, I wish you all a pleasant week!
