Did you get the Beru parts or the "Genuine" Porsche - which I believe are exactly the same Beru coils?

Yeah, I bought the Beru branded ones....not the ones that say Porsche. My stock coils all looked great. No cracking in the body or boots. I'm actually a little annoyed because every single thing I replaced (water pump, plastic coolant elbows, etc, etc) looked almost like new. Even the clutch looked nearly perfect, yet it was having problems holding even 14 psi in cold weather and low rpm in 6th gear.

Mechanics were all real impressed with the looks of everything in the engine and trans. They said they see a lot of 10-15k mile cars in there with a lot more "age." Turns out there is something to actually driving your turbo and not just leaving a garage queen

Even when you buy the "Genuine Porsche" parts they still say Beru on them. Porsche just marks them up. At least that's my general impression, that's usually how it works in the automotive business. I don't have specific information about these coils, that's why I was asking.

There is something to be said for driving the car. That is probably why my plugs only lasted a year and 4,000 miles. I baby the car 99.9% of the time when I drive it as well. I only drive it in anger for performance testing and tuning purposes, although occasionally I have been known to race hapless GTR and Corvete owners who don't realize what they are getting themselves into.

I'm going to do exhibition passes at Texas Invitational this spring, and probably the Runway Rivalry event (Texas Speed Syndicate's 1000whp limit version of Texas Invitational) as well. Beyond that I really don't want to take my car to the drag strip, it's just hard on the equipment and there is always some 24 year old kid with a Camaro who loses it at the 1/8th mile and hits the wall. I did a lot of drag racing when I was younger and I've seen it happen too many times to want to be out there racing those guys at Test 'N Tune nights. It's funny, but I'm usually toodling around town in my Ford Edge. Miraculously my wife tends to make the S5 disappear form the garage with striking regularity .

Haha, I hear you. I actually got a Vbox for my birthday yesterday, so I'm going to be a Vboxing machine here shortly. I'm interested to see what you find with your plugs/coils. If they are the original coils I wouldn't be surprised if there is an issue there. They are known for cracking the boots and the body of the coil itself. Did you gap your P8s? I just left mine alone at factory gap on recommendations. It is so weird having to be so precise with the spark plugs and not playing with them like usual. Sucks they are so hard to change.

Happy Birthday .

Did you get the vBox sport (the little blue one) as well? I really like mine so far. For one thing, I can now drive 2mph faster on the freeway than I thought I could because my speedometer is reading 2mph low . My only complaint about it is that it always turns itself on and starts logging any time you make a turn or accelerate/decelerate. I don't really want it recording all the time, but I haven't seen a way to turn that feature off. I'm perfectly happy to reach up and press the "Record" button when I want to make a run.

Yes they are the original coils as far as I know. I am probably just going to replace them outright since it is such a disaster to replace ignition parts on these cars. Cobb Plano installed my pk20prp8 plugs, I asked them to be gapped at .025. They are pretty decent about details like that so I assume it was done correctly. I will check them when they come out, although past experience has taught me the gap tends to open up a bit as they wear.

Thank you!

No I got the standard one with the display. I actually left the gap at factory spec. My buddy made 760 wtq on the factory plugs and factory gap on 63.5s so I'm surprised you are having misfire issues with the iridiums. Curious to see what you find.

Great results rix, congrats!!

Curious...I'm not sure if I missed it in your OP...are you still running the .2 intercoolers? With a good intercooler in their and some larger turbo inlets, I bet you could cut those times down quite a bit!

I have the Denso PK20PR-P8 in there right now, not the Iridium plugs. Guess we'll find out when I take them out.

Thanks Tom. Yes, I have the 997.2 intercoolers in the car. I don't really think the intercoolers matter nearly as much when you run E85. Combined with the extra heat the ethanol pulls out of the combustion charge as it evaporates vs. gasoline, my intake temps don't really move during a 60-130 either. I plan on putting some real intercoolers in the car at some point, maybe when things heat up here next summer.

I have the AMS inlet pipes from their Alpha kit. They don't fit quite as they should as the VTG controller contacts them but they are working really well, and are quite a bit bigger than the do88.se inlet pipes so I've left them in.

It looks like the improvement in your 60-100 time is just because of the shift. The run with the shift after 100mph made the time much quicker.

That's interesting, I hadn't noticed that. That means it was breaking up ignition and still ran 2.55? I had assumed I had the boost up on that pass since it was so much better but maybe not. Interesting that I short shifted it that much too.

Well maybe not so much for cooling, but you'd definitely benefit from increased flow of a good set of coolers. The .2's are a bit restrictive from a flow standpoint.

Still...awesome results...I'm excited to see these 68's running strong on E85.

I need to get a hold of BBI for the exhaust. I have called them literally 4 times and they are not getting back to me. I know they are the "in demand" shop but it's a little silly. Have been trying since SEMA.

When you look at the oem type connections as you have on the .2 ic and compare them to a proper ic setup there is a large discrepancy in the inner diameter.

I've got to think with how far it necks down two times on each bank makes them pretty restrictive.

I agree on e85 air temps are made up for there.
