Anyone have any experience with these? I had some forum member made boxes on an old 5 series of mine and never had any issues. Does anyone know who makes these for our cars?
Basically 2008 car...I want the 2009 OEM LED tails...plug and play setup with converter box.
Are you doing a rear facelift to the 2009 OE lights and bumper cover, or are you keeping the 2008 bumper cover? Why not install Depo LED tail lights for the 997.1? If you're doing the facelift, then I think you can buy a plug-and-play converter from FVD.
I am guessing that along with the bumper cover there are a slew of other parts that need to be changed out. I really wanted to keep it OEM.
found the FVD unit....thanks Dennis.

www.suncoastparts.com sells an entire kit, including the FVD converter box. I think the bumper cover that they sell is sold primed, and you have to have it professionally painted. The other option would be to find a bumper cover on eBay.
I've attached a breakdown of the OEM parts and requirements shopping around (ebay vs sunset porsche via Bob McCarthy) - my part numbers are up to date, I believe.
Sub out the rear bumper part number for this one if you have parking distance control: 997-505-941-10

No problem! You're also dealing with new vs used. The biggest cost difference being the bumper. A salvage yard piece vs an OEM piece is quite a difference. The salvage yard piece will have to be undamaged, there are a few online.
Both will need paint.
I've seen the bumpers from $400+ on ebay, some in decent condition and some cracked.
Personally, I'd pay the extra for a new piece. I'm debating between this path and doing an OEM GT2 rear + LED (aftermarket not OEM LED). I may do non-led all red's, too.
I decided to go with the solid red OEM incandescent units. I should have them next week. I think they are a bit more exclusive... you only see them on 997.1 cars. I've only seen them in person once, and never on a turbo.
Carnewal sell adaptors pretty cheap for the 997.2 rear lights retrofit. I believe below €250. I have it and work perfect. Never got a light error and have it for a year.
The oem 997.2 is the only option if you want to update the look of rear. The oem red is okay and all the AM is guetto.
my ghetto rear am tail lamps... so far working great with no issues.....except for the ghetto look....haha
love those lights, r = ruf? , they don't look ghetto at all.
Perhaps i'm ghetto and that's why i like them?
What brand are those? Any issues? Plug n play or did you have to install extra things to keep the dash lights from going on?

Hey Thanks...These are the Depos / Dectanes - "Ghetto" Edition...Haha.(or apparently the Euro spelling is Guetto ??) No problems. Pretty much plug and play, you just need to add the Resistor Module and should have no issues. When it is really cold out...like -1...it had a little fog. I unplugged the vents on the back so it could breathe and has been trouble free since.
Also, after adding my Ghetto rear lamps, I thought some "Trailer Park Trash" front LED's, LED Fog's, 6000K HID's and side marker LED's would complete the look, so below is a picture of the front side as well Hard to get a good picture with the lights on ( I am no photographer), but you get the idea
R- Is for "Rock" edition
If you have any other questions or need help or info...shoot me a note. Happy to help!

Also see the nice side by side comparison photo of OEM vs DEPO...Pretty close if you ask me...
