nnj911turbo is infamous around these parts
what mods to do

i just purchased a 2008 stock 911 turbo. besides a few exterior upgrades i have not done a thing to the car. i dont want a track car, i dont want a car i cant drive all the time, nor do i want to leave it stock... what mods should i be considering to take it up a bit? an ecu tune, air intake, exhaust, what?

i know everyone has a different opinion on what to do but i would like to see what people suggest.

thanks

Tune + exhaust.

I don't feel these cars really need anything else besides that. Just my $0.02.

skip the air intake not a lot of gains there. if you want mod there look at an IPD plenum, throttle body, and maybe do88 or evoms silicone intake hoses.

I would say a Tune and exhaust, as well as, TPC DSC for overall improved ride, handling, and performances in a DD.

As stated by others here, if you do not intend to track the car, you need nothing more than a tune, and exhaust. The TPC DSC module is icing on the cake. You will be surprised by the night and day difference from stock.

Agree with the exhaust and tune.

As to which exhaust and which tune...just check the threads.

You may also want a new head unit and a concealed radar detector and laser diffuser.

Talk to Gus at Technik 1 in NYC. Board sponsor and top notch work on all if he above.

Good luck.

Tune & Exhaust..and intercoolers.

Tune I'd go with Cobb. Send Mitch a PM, you will not find better post sale support than him..he's the MAN.

exhaust, I have AWE Gen 2. It's built very well (maybe going for sale soon) I may want to try something new. Make sure you find with with little to zero drone.

Intercoolers make a big difference, I don't know if Mitch still has logs from my car (maybe he can post them) my IAT's went down a lot and I picked up 6 MPH in the 1/4 with them. I know there was a huge reduction in temperature with them. I went with the AWE ones.

Exhaust and a tune, seems like the only "must have's" on the tt.

I went for a most hp for $ upgrade path and did (in order):

Tune (Cobb APv3, I wanted logging and easy map-changes without a laptop)
Exhaust (Kline, its really great)
997.2/GT2RS Intercoolers
ID1000s injectors and E85 tune (custom tune from Mitch@Cobb)
Sachs clutch (at the same time as the injectors)

Aftermarket exhaust... there are plenty of great ones out there, buy a COBB and enjoy.........

you could probably even run E85 on the stock system and guys like COBB, EPL and Mark (prodigymb) here have done so successfully... I am pretty sure prodigy ran E85 on the stock injectors etc

Then again with E85 power you will need a clutch

How do you like the Kline exhaust? I've been talking to Sam about it, I think I'm going to sell my AWE and give theirs a shot.

+1 on all the advise. The only issue is that there is almost too much to choose from. The right thing to do is go with components and tuning that will expand with you. You may get the itch for more, bigger power (it happens!) and you don't want to start over on anything. I probably work with pretty much everyone and welcome you to call for some awesome service and help deciding. I can walk you through all of the options and find what fits best for you. Then once we are there I'll support you A-Z and make sure that it was correct and you are happy.

Congrats. Get ready for a big bump in enjoyment with the car!

Best,
Sam

Give Sam a call he will lead you down the right path and give you an incredible deal along the way. You are facing two of the biggest choices when it comes to modding. Tune and exhaust are two things that everyone and I mean everyone has an opinion on. So do lots of reading and talk to someone like Sam. You will be a lot happier in the long run trust me.

Love it, nice startup and a low pitch rumble when parking, civil while cruising, howls like a race engine once boost hits and revs rises
