Need help

Wanted to see what people here thought about this. So yesterday I was playing with my exhaust and I accidentally without thinking touched my microfiber towel to the cat and a big chunk of it melted on the cat.

After it cooled I tried to use WD40 or goof off to no avail. So far the only thing I could find on motorcycle forums is to use easy off oven spray. But they have chrome, I am not sure that will work on a black ceramic coating. Other people just say let it melt off over time. But I'm afraid that it will just get worse.

As hot as the Cats get....I think it won't take long for it to completely burn off/disintegrate .

I would at least try that, before putting any harsh chemicals on it. Self cleaning ovens work pretty much like that....they get very hot until all the gunk burns into ash.

Good luck,
DC

In like 2 hours (so my neighborhood can wake up) I was going to start it, let it get warm, and then try to scrape it off with a wooden kitchen spoon. I found someone used that for ceramic coating material. The other popular thing was the penny, but that only works on chrome it seems since it left a small light scratch on my coating when I tried.

Speedsterr, I admire your attention to detail; however, I really wonder how many members here actually towel off their cats after a run, and unless you are showing the car with mirrors on the floor, how many people will see a mark on the cats? Just asking.

I wasn't toweling them off lol. I thought the exhaust was loose so I was checking fitment. I was shaking it around side to side to see if it moved. So when I went to move it from the cat that's when the towel melted on. My worry was for resale when I take the exhaust off to sell to someone else.

I got most of it off from the heat and wooden spoon. The heat melted most of it and turned the rest black from red.

As DC said, it will probably turn to ash after a long run. If blemishes remain when you sell the exhaust, I would imagine that a good stainless steel polish or good old Barkeepers Friend liquid will do the job.

It's ceramic coated.

If someone is **** enough to find a piece of a towel being a deal breaker you dont wanna deal with him anyways and I'm sure the rock in the tires, and sand in the tread would have turned him off anyways. LOL
