When to rebulid your turbos?
When to rebulid your turbos?
Hey guys, my car is at 110,000KM. Are there any reference points to when you should rebuild your turbos?

If we're talking about the factory VTG's, they can't really be "rebuilt" to solve this. The center cartridge of the turbo is not available as a separate piece from Porsche. So pretty much, once there's too much play in the shaft, that turbo is more or less finished.

Ouch! Thanks for the info!
Has anyone worn their stock VTG turbo's out yet?!

I was hoping by now there would be some place to source the OEM VTG turbos besides Porsche, but nothing has come up yet.

Yes, you can definitely "refresh" them, like we do when we build or 65 and 68mm upgrades. But once there's ANY issues with the cartridge, it's toast.
Manuel
Thanks
No idea to be totally honest. We do it as part of our upgrade to the 65 or 68mm wheels, but never really as a precautionary thing.
Ok thanks for the info! Much appreciated!
Does your 68mm wheel fit in the OEM 997.1 turbo housing?
