I am getting 2 fault codes on my 997.1 tt. They are P1096 and P1629. I have a Softronic tune and Miltek exhaust installed about 2 months ago. Tune worked fine when installed but after indy shop installed exhaust one of the turbos got stuck open. I returned car to shop to get it free'ed up and took it to the mountains for a test run. The fault codes came up while on trip, I read and erased but they came back after a slow easy run around home. Any advise or suggestions with whats going on? I am planning to take it back in the shop again and giving Scott at Softronics a call but wanted to know what you guys think.
Well....sounds like you had no issues with the tune.....then it came on after exhaust install, so not sure why you would go back to the tune? Sounds like your installer left a VTG actuator rod off for your first issue. And I am quessing they either damaged, or did not install the O2 sensor correctly...or your new exhaust has 200/100 cell cats and the O2 is setting off the codes?....may need extension bungs?
I think you are correct. I was not questioning the tune so much, but just wanted to get all the history out there. The VTG actuator rod was stuck wide open. I would think you are correct about the O2 extentions. The cel appears after very conservative driving for around 1hour. I ran it pretty hard during the road trip in the mountains and it did not show any cel until the easy drive home? The P1629 is a transmission module code, maybe a complete different issue? This exhaust change out has been very troubling to say the least. Thanks for your reply.
No problem. I hope you can get it straightened out and enjoy the car.
The actuator rod was likely not stuck either. I bet they popped the rod off of the ball connector.
On the other stuff...I doubt you developed a tranny problem coincidentally at the same time...I think if they go back through the exhaust install, they will find other items they disturbed and your problem can be resolved.
