997.1 Turbo Prices same as it was in 2011?!
SubscribeAny thoughts on these cars appreciating? I'm speaking to those cars that have Mezger engine with 6 speed.

Lol on the Manual. That’s a forum wish only. Everyone had a had to find manual or tip. People that can drive manuals are getting less and less. Point is all models of the 997. Including the bulletproof tiptronic are going up. People realize they can get a tip and software and destroy a manual with 100+ more hpOriginally Posted by HardHitter

Three observations, real world pricing today reflects a preference for 6 speeds, it's not a wish only, it's a reality. Secondly, every manual owners knows a tip or pdk equipped car will whip them in drag race, but then most owners are looking for more that 0-60 experience. Lastly, my guess is Squat owners a tip equipped car.Originally Posted by Squat

"People who can drive manuals" haven't all died off in the last 5 years. That might be an argument in 2050 but not right now.
And it only takes 5 minutes of research to see a pricing delta between equivalent 6mt vs Tips. (Manual transmissions vs automatics in virtually all sporty/exotic cars exhibit this.)

Completely false on every comment. Lol so cute on the 0-60 comment. Originally Posted by 550bryan

No the tip will destroy your car all day in fact a cla Amg is probably a better choice.

If you go off eBay and people selling rare manuals
you are right. If you go to a dealer you’ll find they have a few people looking for the 6 but the majority of sales of 997s are tips. Sorry I’ve asked quite a few. That’s way Porsche dumped your rare car. Put it this way a manual isn’t steering me away from a gt4 but I’ll probably end up with a gt3 Pdk. Hell if you are a purist you should be buying a 993 or 930 not a 997. And if you are looking for performance that’s modern get a gt4 or gt3 rs 991
Sorry guys but it’s reall only on the forums you see this omg is a manual. eBay has tons of “rare” manuals that have nice and high prices but they don’t sell or keep getting relisted.
Maybe I’ll sell my ultra rare victory hammer S with 2000 miles on it for 25k.... then you guys will be saying how much of a demand there if for them

Yeah I’m gonna write for my masters thesis and use forums and eBay.... almost forgot autotrader as my pricing models. Originally Posted by Skwerl

everything is over priced and on forums everyone wants their mods back in the price. Go look at the forums guys want a premium for mods. Ask any dealer and he says mods suck. Unless you find a niche buyer. Oh let’s use another great idea. Auctions. Because all the cars are the same right:
I saw an 07 tip on eBay for 82k. 12k miles. Does that mean it’s worth it? In fact I saw my sub 60k manuals recently than tips. Also if you are buying the car as investment
if it goes up great but lol if that’s your plan...So tell me how many cars can you buy today that are manuals? The purist argument is dying.
I frankly don’t really care what you have but if your car is that premium you talk about sell it now.
Anyways you forum ballers always make me laugh. Maybe one of these days I can be a forum millionaire with a 10 year old car talking like I have It made...

I have an 09 6 speed, white/blk, very well equipped PCCB's, centerlocks, adaptive sport seats, sport steering wheel, sport shifter, sports chrono, lit sills etc, in the high 150's new, now has 35K on the odo, 25K when I bought it. I paid in the mid 80's for this CPO car in late 2013. No intention on selling but I had an interesting exchange while shopping for my wife's Cayman S a few weeks ago. An owner of a local high line car seller told me my car as equipped is worth 100K, partly due to it's rarity as an 09 with it's equipment. Not sure it that's true, and I didn't particularly buy the car as an investment, but I was a little surprised at the number. P.S. I wouldn't sell it at that price so it doesn't matter.
Not one 997.2 TT MT cab out there that I have seen for sale for the last 3 months... since I bought mine.
The stick experience is fabulous... do I care that a PDK is faster? Hmmmmmm...uh no.... do I care about the Metzgar?..uh no (again).... yeah, every time I get into my 10 year old car and drive the kid (my first grader) to school.. the sound the car makes holding it in gear making all the noise going down a city block... him looking over saying “do it again!” .. yeah. I got it made.
Hey Squat... maybe you should be over at the Dodge “Demon” forum...might be more your speed and price range.... you can write your thesis about a car that can pop wheelies!
Seriously.... just go on over.. you aren’t adding value here.

Clearly, more like a Grade 5 journal entry than a "masters thesis"....

.1 tiptronics are not appreciating at all....they fetch less every time....those cars will not go up in value ever, manual 996s and 7s will, not like a 993 but being that you can not buy a porsche turbo in manual anymore it will drive the prices of those up......Originally Posted by Squat

Average asking price for a set of 10 cars, will show you that the average asking price for automatic is less than for manual. The purchase price will follow the same trend, otherwise the asking price would eventually even out.
Here's a data sample of cars listed Nationwide on Car Gurus. above from cars that are above 20k miles but less than 40k. I picked this data set because it is the average mileage for these cars today, and there are too many variations between asking price and actual purchase price outside of this mileage. As per my theory, the asking price for automatic cars is exactly $5k less than manual. If you want to prove that purchase price data shows otherwise, show me the facts
Wow, I finally pulled Squat off my ignore list after a couple years. First day, he's already spewing stupid stuff. Going back on my ignore list.
The Tip cars are in fact cheaper. Just go check the prices...
