997.1 Turbo Prices same as it was in 2011?!

Hello everyone! I'm looking to move into a 997.1 Turbo sometime next May. I've been following the prices since 2011, and I noticed that in those 4 years, the prices for 2007 Turbos in manual under $45,000 miles is still around $74,000 on average which the same as when I was looking since 2011!

The same for 996 Turbos! They are still around $42,000 for anything under 60,000 miles! I even saw a 996 Turbo listed on this site for $41,000 with 34,000 miles sold in 2012! The buyer sold the car this year w slight mods and 55,000 miles with a list of $44,000-ish!
When I bought a Boxster S in June 2011, they also had a stock black/black 996 Turbo w about 40-45,000 miles for around $41,000. Guess how much they listing for now?

Same with 997.1 GT3's! Prices have actually gone up! I used to see some for around $80,000. I can understand that it's because 991 GT3s have become more boring since they're offered in only PDK and GT3's in general are a lot harder to find.

How can prices still be the same as 2011! 4 years ago! I was hoping that in 4 years, instead of being $70,000, I would be able to pick a 997.1 up for about $60,000 with under 50,000 miles.

Thanks!

They are just highly desirable. For me, I love manual cars and I like fussing with mods. The 997.1 is/was the most recent platform that offers this blend while still being modern, the .1 engine and pre pdk era are where its at for me.. I don't know if thats whats keeping them up in value though... if you look into 993's I just saw a minty '96 S go for 130k so who knows but I would be terrified to drive the crap out of a 993 and rack up miles and the 991 just doesnt stimulate me the way my car does... I will now step down from my soap box.

I know , I am in the same situation myself. Its replaced 2 more times by newer models , very slow on stock form nowadays , old crapy interior ,owners put a lot of miles and still they want same price every year . In europe some of them are right in the same price with a r8 v10 , f430 , gallardo . lol I bought my panamera turbo , which is for me one of the best compromise sport car in the world , the same amount of money with what owners request for their 8 years old 997 . In the end they also have a lot of bs problem , coalant tubes ,tiptronic broken seal , valvetrain , boost leaks once in while .
One years ago (I feel so stupid now) there was 2 997 gt2 , one for 80K in italy 30k miles and one 78k in germany , also there was 2 manual ferrari 599 gtb for 80K and those cars are know worth 500K .

It's the Mezger engine and the manual transmission combination. They may end up being like 993s in a few years.

997 turbo manheim (auction) prices are up a considerable amount at this point in time as compared to a year ago for a similar vehicle. There was a period back in 09 or so that seemed to be the low point in the market, with a steady rise (though slight), plateau, and rise ever since.

I have been looking since 2011 as well and prices hasn't moved. I recently bought my turbo 5 months ago. It's my 4th Porsche over the years and looking back, prices has gone up except for the 996TT I had since I bought it 2 years old.

They're easy cars to work on and always loved working on them.

I have been tracking turbo prices for almost 10 years and agree with you guys that the prices have been very steady for the past few years. We have definitely seen 996tt prices stabilize and even rise slightly while the 997.1tt's following the same trend. I don't think the 996/997tt's will reach 993 status in terms of price appreciation but the 911 Turbo will always be a special car.

Spoken to several Porsche dealers regarding this very topic.. The Mezger/6spd .1 cars have bottomed out and will most likely continue to rise especially <30k mile examples.

I've driven various 991s and don't like them at all. Saw a 991 and 996 on the highway the other day and the overall look of the 996 while moving and switching lanes looked better and I don't really like the 996...991 is big and the rear...

As others have said, 6speed manual and Mezger engine is a desirable combo and I also think it looks more classic Porsche:

I suspect that demand/supply economics are finally catching up to the 997.1! (1) the Mezger/6MT combo has a certain appeal (2) Porsche isn't making any more of them (3) current owners are hanging onto them longer (as the 991TT isn't as appealing to many), and finally (4) from an 'overall' value perspective the performance one can get out of a 997.1TT isn't light years behind what you would pay a stiff premium for in a 991TT (IMHO the biggest leap was the updated interior and technology interface).

It's little surprise that prices are stabilizing...a good thing too.

It's bee wonderful reading this thread after my recent purchase of a 997.1 TT with 31k miles!
Just as others have said, that is why I wanted one: Performance is still amazing and the manual and Mezger combo is a delight. Couple that with the looks of a 997 and it seems we do have a classic.
I will say, I actually do like the looks of the 991, but I prefer the 997 over it without hesitation. I plan on keeping this car for a very long time, and that is something I'm not good at doing.

Man, I have listed my 996 Turbo for sale but maybe I will just keep it. The 997T needs some company in the garage anyway!!
