We did not have any issues with the brakes as I am sure it would have reflected on the dyno results and if it did overheat the brakes they would be smoking, smelly and very apparent as to what is going on. We did not change anything with durametric ect. The dyno tuning was done about 4 years ago and only now have I changed my breaks after thousands of KM.

Here is one of the 10+ pulls we did that day:

This is complete BS, that's all I can say. The brakes would smoke or even catch fire before damage would occur. Never mind reduce all the power going to your wheels.. It would be extremely apparent there is an issue.

No CEL at all, I have yet to try a burnout/brake stand, but I'll try that some time soon.

X...

That is great! enjoy the purity! What tires are you running?

There's a really nicely modded TT on BaT that has an RWD conversion done to it:

do you have to modify any settings via PIWIS when you remove the front driveshaft?

Appears you dont with the driveshaft, but if you want to remove the front differential and axles you might have to code it out or put some sort of resistor box in.

Measure resistance of each plug on the differential, then find correct resistor and put into the car side harness, this should fool the computer to seeing that it is working. However I have not tried this in this application what so ever so cannot say if it will work or not and what codes/handling might be affected.

Just got off the phone with mvs motors all you have to do to make it work is remove the two sensors from the front differential and make a bracket and hang it up and you could go 2wd with no PTM error code they have tried it with couple cars I just got off the phone with him 15 minutes ago

The thing that muddied the waters in my mind was VID997's (I think) thread from a couple years ago where it sounded like they tried everything under the sun and just couldn't get it to work without a million errors. Everyone knows how easy it is to make the 996TT RWD, but it sounded like the 997 just had too many computers and sensors.

Now it seems like the consensus in this thread is that it's not actually rocket science or even all that hard.

Is there any reason to fear that the mod might cause excessive wear on any components? I'd hate to do it and then find out it was slowly cooking the rear diff or something. (Not a mechanic so probably a stupid question.)
