yes this was randys motor. once it was in my hands it was clear the fittings were never addressed in 2 teardown. so i removed everything on top to pin them and inspected inside the intake ports. 3 cylinders steamed cleaned and black soot along the gasket to the head. classic head gasket failure. once the motor once opened it was clear there was cylinder housing damage that was never addressed there was a cam housing thrust cap that was broken and simply bolted back into place. the fvd liners were improperly installed the list goes on and on. the bright side to all the carnage was that even own this condition the motor dyno'd 808 rwhp. its all coming apart now for a complete rebuild with LAsleeves, new rings all new seals gaskets and orings from the crank out. this motor will live again in my car

for me i just can't justify 5000$ for a nikasil lining that can't be repaired. score a steel liner and you might be able to clean it up. score a nikasil liner and its a paperweight

Yeah you are right , there are shops like jack transmission who charge 5K for shortblock (piston rods headstuds gasket labour)

I'm not saying that it's not a good product just that my money can be better spent elsewhere since steel liners have been used for decades in big hp builds. Euro cars seem to love the nikasil

I would be a bit skeptical at that pricing since Carrillo rods cp Pistons 12 mm head studs and a complete gasket kit cost over 6000$ with no labour added in

FVD is all about that P-Car tax. That being said, I've never been unhappy with any of their products which I've used, but I haven't used these specific parts.
