Thinking about going 3.8 Looking into all my options. Anyone run this setup and with 30's or 35's with great luck. Feel free to pm if need be.

Anyway you have evoms 3.8 kit to.
Have you decided about headstads also ? 10mm or 12mm ?

That's what I would do and hope to do when funds allow. Todd just got 1560whp out of that orange gt2. The car will make more but that maxed his dyno out. Pretty sure it is a 4.1 but it might be 4.2 or 4.3, guy doesn't seem to have any budgetary constraints. I'd like to do a big bore build with much smaller turbos for 900-1kwhp or so but massive low end torque.

Fvd 4.1 mahle kit is just a combination of piston and rods on stock crankshaft . so I guess 2K+ is worth for the 4.1kit .Maybe only the waterhousing is the expensive extension over the 3.8

3.8 vs 4.1+ builds are two very different categories. The 4L+ builds doesn't leave a lot material (error margin), and should only be done by a qualified, proven builder with lots of supporting machining/pieces. The 3.8L's are a little more "straight forward."

Example = Evolution Motorsports states a new crank is required for 4L+ builds, while the FVD 4.1 upgrade mentions that "gains depend on the software used, camshafts, crankshaft and other internal modifications."

My engine is rebuilt with this FVD Mahle 102mm/3,746cc kit, with 10mm headstuds and Carrillo rods.
I ran it 2 years with A3071HTA turbos which will be upgraded soon to XR5456s or 5756s.
The kit is built by Mahle exclusively for FVD, with iron liners and forged pistons, top notch quality imho.

I went to this kit instead of others (JE for example) for its quality and the same reason, Mahle OEM factor.

yes it does.

layinbacks 996 turbo motor had the fvd kit installed. due to crappy techs and poor assembly all i managed to salvage was the pistons. went la sleeves in 3.8 cp rings. you can buy sleeves pistons and rings for less than half what the fvd kit costs and my engine builder has 1200 hp on just 3.6. kit

to answer the thread, I make about 800hp for 2 years with it and probably close to 900 soon.

Regarding the Nickasil coat I don't know how it could be worth than oem, this kit is engeenered and built and signed by Mahle, the oem Porsche provider for road and competition.
