New to me 997.1 throwing code

my 996TT had a code issue, I suspect it was bad gas also. Ran it down, got some 95 oct pump, cleared code, never came back. But, my local indy, said they had some other issues that were similar. And I have had a Honda, that the cap was the failure mode about 3 times, with emissions CEL's. Who would have guessed gas caps were disposable items?
