Another successful 997tt VRtuned Flash

One of our local customers came to us here in Gilbert, Arizona to get his Porsche 997 Turbo flashed. As a weekend track driver, his 997 Turbo is well equipped with suspension and brakes, but as he noted, some of the Vettes are really putting the hurt on him. The stock 997 Turbo comes with 480 horsepower to the crank. As we have tested, the car usually puts down about 480-400 all wheel horsepower on our Mustang AWD Dyno using 91 octane. The ECU Flash is all done via the OBDII port taking the car from 480hp to 615hp at the crank. This can vary depending on octane used and exhaust systems. The factory exhaust system is a big plug in the performance of the Turbo. The ECU is set to deliver more boost and power but the stock 400 cell catalytic converters just don’t want to help out. When doing an ECU Flash, it is best to do an aftermarket exhaust or have an upgraded exhaust as well. Another thing to remember is you are increasing your horsepower just over 100hp to the crank. Stock spark plugs cannot always handle this performance and it is good to upgrade to a 1 step colder plug like the BKR7EIX NGK plug. The only way to know if your plugs need to be changed is if you have reached the service interval, or under full throttle load, the car misfires.

An ECU flash is one of the best mods for the money you can do to the Porsche 997 Turbo. The performance in daily driving, spirited driving, and track driving is something that makes the car act like a whole different animal. It is a very safe and reliable upgrade to do that will keep your love for Porsche and horsepower continuing forever!
