Yup, I'm talking the front aero lip, GT2 sides, and rear bumper lower valence.

Due to the thought of having the car out of my sight and in someone else's hands, I've been putting this off for years. Whenever you have some work done on your car it always seems to come back with some new blemish, a broken tab or something to make you sad. But I think I've finally accepted my destiny and this must be done.

I'm planning on going to Sterling Auto center which is a Porsche approved paint shop. Recommended by Newport Porsche.

From what I've read, the best way to achieve this is removing all of the pieces, sand, primer and paint. I'll drive the car home and let the paint cure for a couple months before I have it clear-bra'd for protection.

I don't really have any questions just... wish me luck.

That will look great on GT Silver. I'm doing the same on my Basalt Black but the results on yours' will be much more dramatic.

Do you have an aftermarket hydraulic wing mechanism? That looks pretty high.

HI OHSoCal, I'm guessing you live in the area as well. Do you know where you're going to have your paint work done?

How much should one expect to pay for this amount of work? I want to get everything done right... from disassembly, to paint quality, to re-installation.

I have the EB werks spoiler mounts. Right now it's on the second highest setting. It's too high, not "stock" looking enough for my tastes. I'm going to lower it.

I'm presently in the area as I'm typing this (also in Irvine off Barranca Parkway) but not residing there... Here visiting family for the holidays. I currently reside in Ohio.... So I don't know where to take it for body work but I'd say any place that does Porsche's work should suffice.

I'm going to remove the lower pieces myself and take it to a body shop. I'll only bring the car there to paint match but like you, I don't want to leave the car there.

Should look good it really makes the car look lower ,usually about $200 per item for those pieces is reasonable so $800 for all four.

I'm about 10 minutes away from Barranca

Actually I need to consider removing the parts myself. I would need to find help, but this is a good point. I'll talk to the manager at the paint shop and ask him what he would prefer, knowing how attentive I am to detail and what not.

Hi TW, hope all is well. I will use this as a base line. I don't mind paying more to have the job done worry-free with care.

Removing the parts shouldn't be too difficult if you have a floor jack. Just be careful with some of the clips. There has to be a diagram somewhere of where the clips and torx bolts are located.
Removing them yourself might even save you some labor costs since all they have to do is prime and paint... But then again, each shop will be different.
Be sure to post your experience as I'll be doing this very soon too.

No floor jack and no friends. I've installed the lip and the GT2 sides myself believe it or not (and it was tough for me). Removing the rear bumper and subsequently the rear lower valence pieces from the rear bumper... I have not had the opportunity to do so yet.

I'll keep this thread updated as to what I end up doing.

Every turbo should come from the factory this way, period! It will transform/enhance the look and you will regret not doing it sooner.

When I went this route about 6 years ago I purchased all the parts new from Suncoast - e.g. GT2 side skirts, aero front lip and new valance. They were pricey but worth it, as I bought the pre-primered OEM pieces.

I paid aprox. $800 for the paint work and another $100 or so for the installation. Doing it this way meant no down time for the car as the parts sat in my house for 3 months after paint was done, then installed and immediately driven to the detailer for clear bra application. Note, all parts need to be installed before the clear bra can be applied.

why don't you just remove the pieces yourself and drop them off that way there won't be any chance of new blemishes on your ride? It isn't too difficult. The rear lip is the hardest piece and requires the removal of the rear bumper for easiest access.

I had mine painted and xpel'd and it still looks as good as new!

PSTT07 - I had mine applied while still off the car, not sure why they'd need to be installed in order to do that?

Good luck, will look great once completed!

I'm not a big fan of doing the front lip myself. Besides the extra time and expense every time you scrape something,.. I think it makes the front end look too bulky.

But I love it when the rockers and rear are done. I've thought about painting my rockers,.. and perhaps even doing one of the more aggressive rear valances,. like perhaps this one.

Are those the electric rear wing rams you have on there? That rear wing is rather high. Looks great.

Thanks for the votes of confidence. This has always been a part of my original plan for the car, but I've been dreading having it done.

Based on the suggestions provided, I'm going to talk to the paint shop manager before I have the work done. If he feels that his worker is up to the job of achieving perfection, I'll trust them. If he advises I do it myself if I'm that particular, then I will consider doing it myself.

They aren't electric Duckstu, they are fixed mounts. They can be found here:

Aaron,

I would take the parts off myself and have the paint shop do the paint. The small blemishes/damage happens when the car is sitting there at the shop.

I have a feeling it would be wise to listen to Edwin. OK, I'll figure something out!
