Whipple noise (DVs?) after tune
Whipple noise (DVs?) after tune
Hello,
12 Turbo S with BMC drop in filter, put on a XXX tune and am getting a whipple type sound when letting off boost in gear. Listen in video below (about 15 seconds in).
Guessing it is time for a new diverter/recirc valve. When i changed the stock units in my 996tt droptop to EVOMS i did hear a little 'whoosh' when building and letting off but this sound from my TTS is different.
TIA!

no it sounds like an externally gated big turbo letting off the throttle, not the whoosh sound from my old evoms unit in my otherwise stock 996tt cab, this actually has a whipple sound
if you listen to the video, very closly at about 14 seconds in when i let off the throttle you hear a whipple sound

I have that noise as well... had it since i had the car, around 18 months now.. Just had new uprated DV's and it's still there, if anything it's now louder... No idea what it is either though lol...

When you tune the car, you're pushing a lot more pressure and air flow through the intake tract and diverter valves than there was stock, and it makes a lot more sound--especially with a BMC filter as other Sam said. Based on the video yours are performing properly, no need to replace but we do sell the same valves as your 996TT had for the 997.2TT.

Like the others said, totally normal and totally fine.
But if you want some peace of mind that the diverters are working properly and you won't have issues down the road, they're an easy fix: http://www.championmotorsport.com/pr...p/cmsdv02b.htm

Excellent!
If they're not already pre-installed, make sure you use the yellow springs, since you have a tune.
