Broken into- question
Broken into- question
Car was broken in my work carpark. Only noticed when I drove off and looked out the passenger window saw hand prints all over the window. Pulled over to check it out and found scratches to the top of the convertible frame from prying the window out. Checked car and found my coin box gone, so the ***** got in.
Called insurance and they will cover under comprehensive with a deductible.
Question #1. Because the window was pried out of the window frame, could there be damage to the window and or track? It was pried back enough for the thief to get his arm in. It still goes up and down without issues.
Question #2. Once locked. Can the door be open from pulling the inside door latch? That must be the only way to open the door.
Question #3. Assuming the alarm went off, when I return to the car and disarm, would the alarm provide a beep beep stating the alarm was set off?
Question #4. With the alarm activated, can the frunk be opened by the inside latch? Just wondering g if storing all my valuables in the frunk would be safe.
Thanks.

Sorry to hear this Jako! This is never an easy thing to deal with.
1- Sounds like a great objection for your insurance company. Potentially, yes! You'll need to provide evidence that the window does not function correctly though.
Any possessions stolen? Sounds like you had something valuable in the Frunk.
On a lighter note, Ron White (An american comedian) had a Rolex radio stolen out of his car for his claim.

Thanks Elite 1. I don't want to touch the window too much until I bring it to the shop tomorrow for the assessment. That said, there edge of the window has a mark/chip from the prying.
From what I can remember there is nothing valuable in there. My question was, can the frunk be opened by a thief if the car alarm has been set? If not, then I would think that would be a good place to keep items.
I can always check by locking myself in the car. Then Open the door to trip the alarm then pull the frunk switch and see if it opens

I like your proactive thinking on the Frunk. Don't have the answer on that though. I can run a test this coming weekend if no one else answers this for you.
I would touch the hell out of that window now. You need to know the issues today prior to your shop visit. They may say you only need a seal. You then need to live with a chipped window with a new seal.

I would have though the motion sensor would had gone off if they stuck their arm inside the car. Make sure you are only pressing the lock button once when you lock the car. If you press it twice it will turn off the motion sensor and lock the car. I also believe opening the glove box or center console would again set off the alarm. OPening the door from the inside should also set off the alarm. You might have your dealer check your alarm system function out.
sorry about your breakin- friggen thieves-

Hi all. Update. I armed the car with me in it. Opened the door and the alarm went off. I pulled on the frunk switch and it remained closed. So it would appear locking your valuables in the frunk is a good thing.
