Something Real Special
Something Real Special
So earlier this week, I went to pick up my car from a small routine check and when I got there I was shocked to see something extremely rare and special.
What you're looking at isn't any 959, but 1 of the 29 959 "S" variants with 211 MPH top speed and 530 HP. Needless to say I was floored. I stuck around for an extra half an hour just gazing at it. It was amazing to inspect the car that really pioneered the technology in the 996/997 TT and the engineering behind them.
This owner purchased/won this car at an RM Sotheby's auction in France for $2.5M and proceeded to have it flown Lufthansa cargo directly to this place to have an inspection and quality check. Apparently this will be nothing less than a concourse quality car. It already looks like it.
There were also no less than 5 356 speedsters in the shop as well.

Rennwerke in Tarrytown. Just visit the shop once and you'll be sold. They've been there for 30 years and there are P cars with California plates sent cross country for him to work on. Cheech isn't a big tuner, but he can navigate P cars blindfolded and basically do anything when it comes to the factory or lightly modded cars including full rebuilds and restorations. He actually maintains lots of celebrity and collector's cars including Jerry Seinfeld.
If you're car is beyond bolt ons and a flash tune, I'd go to AIM Performance in NJ. They've solidified themselves as the new benchmark in the P car tuning arena in the tristate. The fact that they've got several high horsepower 997 Turbos outside of their shop at any given point is enough credential. Also, the owner has a 918 Spyder and an Aventador SV. He's not only a successful guy, but he's an enthusiast. I know once I go the tuning route AIM is the only shop I'll go to.
Both of these shops are the best at what they do, the choice is yours

Much more rare. I don't think more than 20 exist. That would be cool to see.
Definitely much more rare. Probably more expensive now too. These were $1.5 million over 10 years ago.
You know, come to think about it, I wouldn't be surprised. There's one other guy that takes his cars to him and he's a gazillionaire too. He has a 40+ exotic car collection and even has books published about it. But then again, Southern CT has no shortage of billionaires, so really, it could be anyone's.
