Got a call from the dealer today for the First 997TT
I got a call from the dealer. He asked me to give him the color I want, the interior and the transmission choice and that I will have the first one they get and one of the first in the country. Now what I was also told is that with this first option I do not get to spec out my other options but that the car will come moderately optioned(I do not want a high option car) and that I have the choice to get my deposit back if I do not want the car when it does come in. The info I got was that this car will sticker in the 120-125k range "moderately optioned." I was also told that I should expect hp in the 480 range with the possibility of an X-50 type version in the future but not initially. So here is the question I pose to all of you kind people. Should I go with yellow or black? I am torn between the two colors. Black for elegance and stealh but yellow for the exotic look. I am really torn and need to give them a final answer by tomorrow. The car is expected in June.
I have a 2005 TSCab, triple black, which I'm modding with EVO stage 4-should be completed in the next 2 weeks, and I'm holding out for the 997TSCab (or Tcab with powerkit)-and I'll probably go with speed yellow on that one-and keep the black 996
-so I'll say one thing: I like your tastes. Black for elegance/yellow for exotic-or a bit of that "F-you" look as it blasts by-take your pick!

I would not trust their word at this point, but they said that their assumption was 3 months following the release of the coupe they would release a cab which to me seems very quick.
I also heard on rennteam that someone got form their Car and Driver via e-mail that the base TT peak HP will be 473HP not 483, but ? if that's a typo (
), but that 0-60, manual/tip factory rates 3.6/3.7. Also no PDK/PDCS yet per C&D. Apparently overboost for short surges for peak torque of 502lb-ft, otherwise 457lb-ft (in other words the VTG's account for the performance gains since on the 3.6L engine in the 997TT, peak torque minus overboost = that for my 996TTS).I hope these numbers are false. It's all begging for aftermarket engine flashing since that 3.6L dry-sumped powerplant easily handles 600+HP with the turbo boost turned up.

I would seriously consider what he thinks is "moderatley optioned". As we all know almost everything is an option with a Porsche. Example the foot well lighting in my GT2 was an "option". That is weird but then again it wouldnt be Porsche if it wasnt different. I say go for the yellow and get plates that read "num 1 "

When are you gonna get yours?
Actually, I watched a couple of pics at a black 997 Turbo, damn that't hot!

But as a couple of people have said before me, it's all about your personality.
I don't know which i preffer
I actually got word from the regional manager today that we could pick out some options. So I chose the Yellow/black, 6speed, the Sports Chrono, PASM(comes standard I believe), Limited Slip(told me it was an option), Short Shifter, No PCCB(i do not want to deal with the ceramic brakes) and the basic options that come with the car. It will see track duty and more than likely will have the seats upgraded so I opted for just the base seats and none of the fancier stuff.

I got the same call....It is the launch addition car.. It will be out end of June, early July. But, the first buildable allocations are in April with the same end of June, early July delivery... My advise and what I am doing is waiting to build my own with choices of options.. In the end they will both be here around the same time
